It only took me 10 years!
Still a lurker at heart.
All BS aside, I can't thank Spark enough for keeping this place going. This place is the reason I now only buy 1 knife magazine,TK. I've been reading Steven Dick's pieces for nearly 20 years. Some habits never die.
Sometimes I see trends here that almost send me away but then I'll read something that sucks me back in.
In those questionable times I can't help but think of the sage writing of James Mattis. There are some here that have taken up the Mattis mantle without knowing it. An excellant example is when new members post.
Some here are quick to scream troll etc. without considering a person's lack of knowledge. Yes there are trolls and scammers but not every new member that asks a much repeated question is one!
It is at those times that I'll occasionally see those voices of reason chime in.
You know who you are!
Learning is best accomplished by listening and observing. Please remember that before you accuse someone of ulterior motives or stupidity.
The search function is only a tool. Current experience trumps searches as often as not.
I am guilty of the sin of silence. I should respond when I see the newbies searching for knowledge that I often take for granted.
Luckily some braver soul will usually lend a hand.
