Yes, I expected a delivery from the USPS today... That 60's vintage Colonial made novelty automobile knife you see pictured to the left in the above photo...
But... another package was in my mailbox... one I was not expecting! I opened that one first... just having to find out what is was. How freaking cool is this, a brand new ebony handled Schatt & Morgan pocket knife!!!! WOW!... Reading the note enclosed, it was being sent to me from Griff, a fellow member better known as 'Zippofan'. WOW!!!.. It is such an amazing gift from, obviously, a great guy!!! THANK YOU!!! This knife will not only be proudly displayed in my collection, it will be cherished as a great and thoughtful present from a friend. You, sir, have just given me more than a great material gift... you have given me a great sentimental gift of friendship.... Thank you so much, my friend! :)

And here it is, in one of my displays within my living room. This display also houses a pocket watch my kids got me a few years back, and a small pocket knife found amongst my mom's belongings when she passed away some months back. It was a little knife I had gifted to her to use as a purse knife, and that she cherished as if it had been gold. I felt Griff's present to me would fit right in with these other sentimental items :)

Good stuff Jimmy! It looks nice in your display

Good on you Griff! Well done :thumbup:

Wow! What a beautiful knife and what an amazing and kind gesture!

Zippo you're a true Gentleman!!

Yes, I am totally blown away with how awesome a gesture Griff made towards me... I am truly without the words to express my appreciation for the wonderful gift, and the wonderful feeling it gives me to have been the recipient of such a gesture... Thank you again, Griff, your kindness will never be forgotten :)

Awesome - just awesome, I have been gifted knives from fellow friends here and the knives mean so so much more than if you were to buy them!
Great read PKJ, well done Griff!

Wow!
It seems the spirit of Christmas doesn't just end the day after Boxing day .
Its funny because as I sat down with my coffee to "check the surf" on BF this morning I was thinking about how good these giveaways are on so many levels.
I've won a couple and I've done a couple.
If I strip it down to mercenary money matters I'm definitely in front.
On another more admirable level -receiving gifts from people in other parts of the world whom I've never met is wonderful and great.But..
Giving a knife and knowing it will be well looked after, well used and appreciated kinda makes me feel richer.
Well done.

Let me take a moment to describe this beautiful knife that I received from Griff today...

*A perfectly centered thick spined single blade that has nice swedging and a long pull

*Blade made of 1095 carbon steel

*A half stop

*Ebony handle scales

*Pinned in shield

*Beautifully polished iron bolsters

*Steel liners

*Steel pins

(Has no nickel silver or brass anywhere)

My understanding is that this S&M knife is part of the Heritage series, based on knives that S&M made during the first decade of the 1900's. Three hundred of each pattern were made, and this knife is from the first year (2011) that the Heritage series was offered. Neat stuff! Queen/Schatt & Morgan is my favorite manufacturer, with Case being my second.

This was so right in so many ways... Griff, as we used to say back in the day... "You the man!!!"... :-)

Just goes to show there are still some really nice people left in the world.

Nice one.......:D

Jimmy,
Birds of a feather flock together. One good deed deserves another.
NICE, NICE, KNIFE.
I like how you have your mom's knife encompassed by the chain of the watch, VERY FITTING.
Your automobile knife is pretty cool also.
Griff,
You are First Class in my book.

Very cool gesture. I think you'll like S&M, they make quality stuff, that one in particular is a fine looking specimen. The Colonial is very interesting as well.

I agree, my personal favorite traditional knife firm is Queen/Schatt & Morgan... Their knives capture that old school flair very nicely! :)
