A few interesting auctions, I'm sure many of you saw these.

But I've never seen an LB-4 go for this kind of money:
expensive LB4

Also, this is the second time I've seen these (maybe they're the same ones):
892 UH
(alternate) 707 UH

Does anyone know what the last 2 are? Apparently they never showed up in a catalog. Are they european or something? 2.5 Generation models? I don't think I'll be able to sleep until I know if I have to add these to my official list of UHs...

Thanks,
Dave

Some one really wanted that LB4..........a lot worse than I would ever want one.
Now the 707UH......... don't know what that knife is but it isn't a 707UH. The 707UH-Gambler, 2 3/4 in., one pen blade and scissors, -appears in catalogs and price lists from 1991 through at least 1993, maybe later, but my next catalog after 1993 is 1998, where the 707UH is not mentioned.

Check out what the real 707UH looks like at: http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/
I have no idea what that is...maybe some end-of-days knife......don't know.

Here is a list of the 3rd Generation Schrades that I know of:
3rd Generation
C627 Pen Knife; 2-5/8 "; pen & drop point blades; Cocabolo handles; nickel silver bolsters, ss blades
SS627 Pen Knife; 2-5/8 "; pen & drop point blades; brushed stainless handles;+C222 ss blades
C628 Pocket Knife; 2-5/8 "; pen, sheeps foot & drop point (main) blades; Cocabolo handles; nickel silver bolsters, ss blades
C641 Lockback; 3-1/2"; drop point blade; Cocabolo handles; nickel silver bolsters, ss blade
C642 Jack Knife; 3-1/4"; drop point & pen blades; Cocabolo handles; nickel silver bolsters, ss blades
C648 Pocket Knife; 3-1/4 "; pen, sheeps foot & drop point (main) blades; Cocabolo handles; nickel silver bolsters, ss blades
SS648 Pocket Knife; 3-1/4 "; pen, sheeps foot & drop point (main) blades; brushed stainless handles; ss blades

I have never seen anything of any 3rd generation Uncle Henry's.....That doesn't mean they weren't made.....I just haven't heard about it.

Let's see what LT, lrv & Codger have to say......

Dale

Thanks for the info, Dale.
I made the 3rd generation remark, because
an LB4 is to a C641 as
the 892UH is to the C648 and
the 707UH (alt) is to the C627.

I have heard the LB4 was made for the euro market and only accidently leaked out here, so I was thinking maybe the 892UH and 707UH (alt) were also for that market. Just a WAG though.

Yeah, how about that $255 LB4? Every time I feel embarassed about how much I paid for a knife, someone comes along and makes me feel better. :)

Dave

Well I thought I had the $255 LB-4 mystery figured out. Surely a last 30 sec. bid entry meant to be $25.50 but the buyer was nervous, hit an extra zero and ran out of time for a retraction. But one small flaw in that theory developed when a check on the bids revealed there were two bidders in last minute competing for this RARE LB-4!
Now I'm not going to try to speak for everybody in here, but for me, personally, before I went even a smidgen over $200 on an LB-4, I'd want the mahogany box and the elk hide sheath that comes with it. And a copy of the Brady print showing Abe Lincoln presenting it to U.S. Grant...signed by at least one of 'em. Well okay if I got all that I might go as hi as $215 but THAT"S IT! :D

Who said the prices were stabilized? Man o man..
That LB4 went twice what I expected.
Dave you got the numbers right. I do not have any info on the UH's and would love to know where and when they were going to introduce them. I would have thought they (707 & 892) would have gone more than the LB4.
So much for me knowing anything.
I love watching. :D

Dave,
If you look in Robert Clemente's Catalog History of Schrade Knives,he reports:
"The LB4 was never put into the regular line catalog, etc.
This Schrade LB4 is probably the most allusive(sic) and rare of the Uncle Henry line of knives, not all Schrade knives were duplicated in the Eoropean markets;this knife was made for that market and did not appear in the U.S.market."

Note that the other two sort of resemble the LB4 - short, fat, and stubby blades.
Clemente doesn't list the 892 and he reports that the 707UH Gambler was only listed from 1991 thru 1993.
The prices don't seem to be too high, the LB4 is probably worth more than that.
Now,how many are going to add these model numbers to their eBay "watch list"?:D

Ron,

Thanks for the info. Notice that the curved 707UH and the 892UH are the same exact patterns as some of the 3rd gen series. The only difference being the staglon handles and UH shield. The same is true of the LB4.

Thanks,
Dave

There 's another one on eBay now.
Evidently the factory inventory may have included a barrel of them.:D

Speaking of on Ebays...Jim Parker dba silverladdie has an '86 Schrade Heritage Red trapper in the hinged blue top box ends tonight about 9 I think but don't hold me to it. Last time I looked it was still @ $23.
That one ends before an Uncle Henry 705 with the secondary file blade comes up and it was higher than the Heritage at my last peek ($26). I know I don't recall seeing a 705 before, but I can't believe it is any nicer than a blue top Heritage. As you may or maynot be aware, I have overextended my hobby budget for this month I mean year so anyone here want to get them I certainly won't be in the way.
I did find one of Mr. Levine's books at our library-one of 3 on hand dealing with the subject of knives! The librarian was nice enough to search the system and request a few more transferred in for me to checkout. From her surprise at their limited resources on the subject sounds like my inquiry may generate some additions in the near future. I have a hunch this isn't the right place to type this either, but it's only an inch and a half paragraf so maybe I won't get reprimanded too severely.:foot:
