i just recieved my buck mayo in the mail that i got for $155 shipped from ebay, and all i can say is WOW!

before this knife, i have owned an al mar sere 2k, bm 710hs, bm 806d2, bm814, a greco folder, and a few frn spydies. this knife blows them all away.

the fit and finish is amazing. i was expecting a great knife, but everything about this knife exceeded my high expectations.

i am in no way a knife expert, but i do enjoy the hobby. i started out cheap, and have slowly stepped up, and it has been worth is every step of the way, but i feel the jump from the bm710 and bm806 to this is a HUGE jump in quality.

i was wondering, for those of you who own both a sebenza and a buck mayo, how exactly do they compare. i love the way this buck feels in my hand, and was wondering if the sebenza feels similar. i know people say that the fit and finish on the sebenza is better, but by how much??

thanks for listening, and sorry for the long semi-pointless post

Having owned both, ill say the Sebenza is the better made knife, but of course it better be for twice the price and many people may very well prefer the design of the Buck, so i cant say the Sebenza is the better knife, just a little better made, which knife is better is a matter of taste.

The B/M though is maybe the best knife avilable for the price its selling at, ie. $200 or less, though the Microtech DA LCC at that price point gives it some competition, but of course theyre very different knives. I too was surprised at the very high quality of the BM when i received one, surprisingly close in quality to a Sebenza, something i never expected. I like the fact that the Sebenza is designed to be easily taken apart for cleaning and greasing, but the BM was sharper out of the box than any Sebenza i have seen, just about as smooth, and had a ball detent that was really amazing, centered blade, excellent lockup, really a great knife for the money. Of course a REAL Mayo is even better, but theyre a lot more money.

In conclusion, to really answer your question, the Buck is close enough in quality to the Sebenza that the determining factor as to which you should carry will be your personal taste and not based on quality.
