...At least, that's what I believe.

Was down at the local "military surplus centre" in Singapore (Jalan Sultan for all you local folks. For all you non-local folks, this is a mini-market of sorts where you would go to buy all sorts of camping gear and army expendables like tents, socks, mess-tins and boots.) Popped in to a shop (SngArms & Sports) to take a gander and just happened to sport the SOG X-Ray Vision going for SGD$175. Couldn't believe it. Thought it was mislabled, but confirmed with the storeholder that it really was going for that price.

Snapped it up, but managed to bargain it down to SGD$165 as there were a few small rust spots (they left it on display in a non-air-tight glass case and you know how humid Singapore is). I thought it was a pretty good deal. What are your opinions on it (the knife, and the deal)?

To my fellow local collectors, that was the last one they had at the shop, though there might be more at the main shop, in case you're thinking of picking up one yourself.

KnifeOutlet has the X-Ray Vision for 74.95 USD...don't know how that converts. If you like it, then it was probably worth it.

Hmmm.... Guess the pricing wasn't as cheap as I thought. I sort of remember seeing it for about US$100, so after adding the postage and converting at about 1.6, I thought it was a pretty good deal.

Have yet to put it through it's paces so I can't really say that I like it, but I did want to get one of these folders with the new-fangled locks. First impressions though: the butt of the handle does stick out quite a lot when clipped in the pocket. A bit of a problem there, but I think I can modify it to sit lower. The factory edge is so sharp that the hair on my forearm just fell off in dead fright.

The pivot pin needed a little loosening to get it slick, but the blade remained central. The lock acts well in place of the ball detent in liner-locks, and seems solid enough when the blade is deployed.

Keninshiro and Samo have been frequenting a store called Sheares Trading that has probably the best selection of high end productions this part of the world (spydercos, microtechs, etc). Kenin will probably pop up and give you the address since I've never been there myself. The prices are usually cheaper that if you had ordered the stuff yourself from the states (including the $$$ shipping charges).

Thanks Andrew. I already knew about Sheares Trading from previous threads with him. I've been to the store they have in the World Trade Centre. Good selection, nice people. But I heard they are moving to a new place this year. Will check and see this weekend.
