yes, a clarification and perhaps some reasoned debate is needed. for example, if a friend and i go to an auction and he sees something he likes, i am not going to bid against him. i think all of us would do the same in that situation. similarly, i would treat those who post here regularly as friends, particularly those who frequently help me with the questions i ask. anybody considering purchasing anything (auction or otherwise) has the right to do as much fact finding as they think necessary before proceeding. ebay knife listings can be misleading; the "not real" knife being difficult to distinguish from the "real" one. there is nothing unfair about us consulting each other to help prevent spending our money on something that is not what we think it is. it "levels the playing field" some. to disallow discussion here, is to give the unscrupulous seller an advantage. and finally, bladeforums in general, greatly increases interest in knife collecting and no doubt thereby boosts ebay prices .
well, that's what i think. i'll watch to see what the moderater and others say.
