Hello All-
Just got my new Lg. Plain Sebenza in the mail today.

You all were right... It's awesome!!! I can't believe the quality and workmanship. I got it in 2 days from Northwest Cutlery. Thanks Leslie.

I ordered a Kasper Combat from Crawford and am still waiting for it to arrive. I just hope I won't be disappointed after comparing it to the Sebenza. The Sebbie will be my daily carry for sure. The Kasper when I need that extra for the dangerous part of town

Oh well....another Sebenzaholic is born.

I know what you mean. I picked upa small Sebenza and an Umfaan last month. Once I got over the sticker shock, I began to really enjoy the basic lines of these knives. They are truly great carry and work knives.

Todd. That's funny that you mention getting a Crawford Kasper for you more dangerous exploits. Right before receiving my Large wood inlay sebbie, I got Greg Lightfoot's new "Predator Backup", combat folder. WOW!

What a knife. Having a hard time deciding which to carry in my pocket and which to put in the sheath. But it's a problem I don't mind having.

Chris Reeve Sebena, what would happen if CR made automobiles, lawm mowers or shoes? His dedication to quality and customer service are sorely missing in today's marketplace.

Welcome to the fold Todd!!

When I bought my first Sebenza (plain large) 3 things happened to me;

1. Never looked at or appreciate other knives the same way again.
2. Realized that fancy stuffs, come secondary to basic fine craftsmanship, because what good is a expensive good looking handle with cool blade style if the knife is a clunker.
3. Aspire for another..and another, one Sebenza is not enough.

I'm pretty sure you will experience the same.

Welcome also Todd, and you are in for some nice experiences, knife wise that is, the Zulu Trio seems to be a must around here, and later on, the wood inlay which I just got, man is that beautiful. I'm going to start a slush fund towards a regular small inlay Sebenza, so I can at least use one!

Good luck on your future!

Todd, chances are you will be dissapointed by the over all quality of the Kasper/Crawford combat folder when compared to the Sebenza. Hell any knife production or custom will look and feel second rate when compared to the Sebenza. I've bought and returned several very expensive custom made knives because they looked and felt "weak" compared to the Sebenza. I'm telling you man, the Sebenza will SPOIL you rottin!! I've also wondered why other companies can't produce a product that is at least as good as the Sebenza. What's up with these companies?!?!

Todd:

I agree. Once you experience the quality and excellent customer service from Chris Reeve Knives, you will no longer need to look for another knife. The quality of my Sebebza is better than or at least equal to any custom I have. His knives are using knives! Don't tuck that baby away because you are afraid you are going to scatch it. If you scratch it, for a small fee, Chris can bring it back to brand new condition. If you destroy it, I bet Chris would give you a new one. Throw away all your other knives, Sebenzas rule! I can't wait to get my small wood inlay and next I'm gettin a small CGG trailing moon. It never ends!

Todd,
I'm with you...... My Large Sebenza is just about a week old in my hands and I can't get enough of it! GREAT knife!

For everyone that has a Zulu trio or working towards it, what is the Small Sebenza particularly good for? I love the Large and could see the Umfaan for pocket carry at work but don't see where the Small fits in. I was just wondering if it wouldn't be better to get two Large one plain and the other decorated and the Umfaan? Of course, if predictions are correct it won't matter cause I'll eventually have those and more.

Not Myname,

I find the small Sebenza to be the most useful of the lot. Just half an inch less blade length, it is much smaller and thinner than its big brother but able to do almost all the same jobs. Legal for carry on airlines and in most States yet a real working tool. If I could only choose one folder, the Small Sebenza would be it.

stjames,
Interesting. I wouldn't have considered the airline carry part.
Thanks for the reply,
Shawn

I've carried a small decorated sebbie the last year. And agree that it will do almost any task required. I'm a collector and have had a couple of large ones go through my hands. One of them was a 1999 maple burl wood inlay one. I ended up selling it and regreted it ever sense. This past winter I used my small sebenza to gut a deer and found it to be just a little too small. It worked, don't get me wrong. I just thought that with a larger blade and handle, it would have been an easier task. So based on that, I ordered from CRK's a large 2000 wood inlayed one. Well, this thing just showed up last week, 5 days before my B-day, and "man"...what a present. This one has California buckeye wood. Beautiful swirls of grays, tans, browns, blacks, and of course the BG-42 blade. I got the double thumb stud and swedge cut into it. This now will be my carry knife. Large, yes! But it will do everything the small one will and more. I don't find it too cumbersome or large. It fills my hand just right. I can't wait till deer season to give it the real test. Till then it will have to practice in my kitchen.
