I am mostly a lurker around these parts, but I've been combing through the HI sub-forum in earnest as of late. Though I do not yet own a HI model, I have developed a considerable appreciation for the craftsmanship of these fine tools, and congratulate those of you who already have experienced HI's creations. I also am impressed by the civility of this sub-forum, and thoroughly enjoy reading members' posts and discussions.

Thank you all for introducing me to the HI line ... I hope to join you in ownership sooner than later.

Civility is good. Far as HI blades go my thinking is to hold one is to love one. They are quite incredible and extremely addictive.

Better jump right in and get cha one, I'd wager one just won't be enough.

There's lots of smart folks here that have really enlightened me and helped me in many respects except my khukri addiction. Good place for me to say a big THANK YOU too. The history of the kami and the knife making makes them even more interesting.

It's very easy to be enthusiastic about something you love! As bawanna said, to hold one is to love one! It also helps that everybody's so nice. You really feel like part of a family on the sub forum! It'd be a good Idea to look out for, and act on (quickly) on DOTD (Deal Of The Day) threads. They have minor, and occasionally major, defects. Cracks on handle, etc. However, don't let this deter you! Most can be fixed in a few minutes, and can get a discount of up to 75$! I hope you enjoy your stay, from one noob to another.

Yours truly

Well, Welcome to you both!
I know I've been a bit remiss in this duty lately, and for that I apologize. I think my Supermod duties take their toll on me at times, but i'm always checking in here and am available by PM, Email or the report post function at anytime i'm not sleeping or out of the house.

This is probably one of the most friendly and laid back forums on BFc. All we ask is that you follow the posted site rules:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/faq.php
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=746&a=98

and that you be respectful and friendly while here.
We have many friends here that are willing to help answer questions and guide you in your purchases. Other than that, most things can be answered or known by reading thru the sticky threads at the top of the forum.

Just for clarification - DOTDs aren't always carrying "defects". I've sharked two HIs (a Chitlangi and a Sirupati, both Tirtha's work) that are perfect.

And I know you meant no disrespect, Brandon/yoyobeerman, but 'defect' is a term that in my opinion might be misunderstood by a newcomer. These knives are accurately described as "blems" by Auntie Yangdu when they have them because the problems are usually handle issues or minor rust spots. The blades are still held to the same standards as any of the HI knives.

Welcome to your newest addiction, mc5aw. :D

Yea, that makes sense. I was in a hurry, so I just wrote stuff down. XD

Exactly. Auntie is very observant and has extremely high standards, if it's not 100% and usually that's because of the climate, certainly not maker error, she gives a very special price.

As for Rajkumar, they don't call him the prince for nothing. I have 3 of his so far and always want more. Auntie lit up at the mention of his name saying he is the BEST!

I think they are all artist with amazing skills.
