I knew what was in the package when the "Big Brown Truck" rolled up. I was expecting it to come today. Mike Payne said he would send it via two day air, and I knew that he would. I took my time opening the package, kind of savoring the moment. The tissue was wrapped tightly around the knife, it had not seen the light of day since it left the factory. The first thing to come into view was a blue (!) thumb stud. It was almost a religious experience. Next were the most perfectly finished titanium scales I've ever seen. From front to back, perfect and without blemish. Before I tried the action, I noticed that the top of the blade had also been finished to a shiny smooth surface that was rounded! I opened the blade slowly until, CLICK! It DID sound like a bank vault door closing! I am amazed. When the Sebenza locks open, it's like a one piece knife!
No wiggle, no wobble, no nothing save a super sharp blade with an odd "sparkly" finish. I guess this is what's meant when someone describes a "stone washed" surface. Even the ends of the pre-tied lanyard are even and of equal length. I am in awe!
I hope everyone who loves pocket knives gets to experience this same feeling one day, because it surely feels wonderful!

I know the feeling. I recieved my Sebenza a few months ago and I still can't get the stains out of my shorts.

You are correct in describing it as a religious experience. Its hard to believe that a human-being can make such a piece of functional art. Good luck with it and wash your shorts immediately!!!

Congratulations!
Getting it is great, but once you compare it to your other production knives, and use it for awhile, your love-at-first-glance infatuation will grow to a true and lasting love and appreciation for it

Bud light? There should be a CRK commercial:
"I love you, man...but you can't have my Sebenza."

Brought it all back

Thanks!

I bought my first Sebenza a couple of months ago also, just have not been able to bring myself to carry or use it. Soon though , very soon.

I have a Benchmade 750 (Pinnacle) which is nearly perfect. I picked it over a large Sebenza in a side-by-side comparison.

I say nearly perfect, because it's MAYBE a little larger than I need. I've been toying with purchasing a small, plain, not-Classic-2000 Sebenza.

Where's the best (read least expensive, reputable) place to get one online?

Thanks,

Mike

Marvelous, isn't it?

I advise getting your name engraved on it. Deters thieves and makes it so you can't sell it even if you need too. Wait a while though, so
1) you can be sure you want it (I know, I know -- who wouldn't, right? But there are people who don't)
2) Once it is all scuffed up and you send it and and it comes back all freshly refinished and like new, it is like getting a new knife all over again...

Clay,
"Marvelous" is a good word for it alright! Also, you're right about people deciding that they don't really want their new Sebenza. (How can this be??) I sometimes see ad's which read, "For sale, NIB Sebenza". You'd have to stab me a hundred times to get me to hand mine over. (However, I'd probably be stabbing you back!

)

I'm extremely happy today,
Will

Lots of knives look far better in the buying than in the using. But not my sebbies. Sure, there are prettier knives but very few that function better.

Will,

You seem to be catching on pretty quick. The secret to enjoying a Sebenza is using it, not looking at it

Will.......that story almost brings a tear to my eye. You sound like a proud father. Welcome to the family.

Life is good..........

Back to the top with this little thread so Mike won't miss it.
Odd...I seem to have this big grin on my face ever since he sent my Sebenza. I can't seem to make it go away! People are beginning to ask, "What are YOU so happy about"?

Thanks for the link to the thread Will. I'm always glad to read my customer's repsonse about their blades. I'm glad you are enjoying the new child in your life
