The UPS truck just left, and dropped off a package. I was a little surprised, as I had nothing on order. Opening the box, with my trusty Resolza, I found a very nice bottle of single barrel Elmer T. Lee Kentucky Bourbon whiskey. A far better whiskey than I normally buy for myself. Looking up Mr. Lee on the 'net, I am amazed at the pedigree of this whiskey. I've already had a shot, and it's sooo smooth, with complex mix of sweet and a little after glow that lingers nicely. It will make a nice evening companion to a deep Savinelli pipe packed just right.

Thank you, James. You have impeccable taste.

Carl.

Very nice :) Enjoy your tipple Carl. Great stuff FC

Very nice!

Here is the man himself. Elmer just died on July 16th, at 93 years of age.

Yes, Elmer just died. But even at the age of 93, he would go to the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, KY every Tuesday and pick out his own barrels for the bourbon that would bear his name. More than likely, you have one of the last bottles selected by Mr. Lee himself. And just to keep this post appropriate to the traditional forums...

No worries, Glad you enjoy it Carl :) Very interesting to hear some of the history of that bottle, my bourbon knowledge is limited, though I like any one I've tried, scotch is the dominant brown liquor here, thankfully bladeforums came through with some good tips.
btw, for the person who asked on my Bertram thread, here is a shot of the new *precious* with both blades out:

Good stuff, I am a bourbon fan myself. Well, really a fan of all whiskies, but bourbon is my main whiskey of choice.

Wow, thats an awesome gesture and sounds like a lovely drop. I like bourbon and I like whiskey, but I like whisky most of all :)
