I just received my exposed spine, Olive Drab ( Carbon Fiber Look ) with dangler sheath today for my Blk/Grn G10 CF Trough Raider from David David Brown David Brown . I posted pics in his sale thread in error, so gonna post here too. It really is great craftsmanship, fit, finish and the color just works :)IMG_20190624_124606.jpg IMG_20190624_124542.jpg IMG_20190624_124513.jpg

Thank you for the kind words everyone.

Carbon fiber is awesome.

Dave, what makes you put an open spine design versus complete coverage for the sheath?

Love that green carbon fiber. Very nice work Mr. Brown.

Thank you.
My exposed spine really works best with Bolo or Kukri style blades, That is why I came up with it 15 or more years ago.
If you make a pure pancake or taco style sheath you have to mock up the blade a lot and it will be loose in places or rattle .
Or if you do not make negative space for the fuller and blade swells the knife will drag across the wide points and dips marring the surface, if you can even get the knife out.
This goes for leather mutants as well, although the flexibility of the leather will allow it to pull out it will still drag and may stretch and loosen over time.

hope that explains things a little.

I love the exposed spine sheath that you made for my MOFO. Really makes for a quick draw.
