WOW, this is amazing!

I know, they are the most beautiful works of art I have ever seen, just lovly :D

I don't usually care for engraving, but that is some beautiful work! Anybody know how much it costs? Or how to get in touch with him?

Thanks for posting this Fonly, you have expanded my horizons!

That is beautiful work. I could see how this could bring new life to my aging Spyderco Police. Perhaps when it is taken out of my EDC rotation I may try something with it.

Is it actually engraving? After quickly looking through those threads it seems that he applies a resist and acid etches the metal. To create an intricate design takes skill, but it's a bit different than using a metal graver and going at it freehand.

I hope I'm not coming off as a prick. I'm just trying to clarify what I'm seeing. Pretty stuff nonetheless.

The blade is acid etched. The handle is engraved by hand.

Sr. Montejano does some truly incredible work. His custom art knives are just that, works of art. The technique he uses, acid etching, allows him to be one of the few engravers who can engrave a finished blade. The more generally used method, does not work well on hardened blade steel. While there are many excellent engravers in the world, including more than a few in this country, there are very few who do acid engraving.

I am very proud, and extremely happy, to own the Kiwi pictured below which he engraved for me. The first picture shows the sketch he drew to work from...

The next series of photos were taken by Sr. Montejano. He first coats the blade with an acid resistant material, then exposes those areas he wishes the acid to work on...

One side, almost completed. Note the stippling of the background of the engraved area on the handle has been started at the rear, but not yet completed...

View of the finished handle on the opposite side. I believe the stippled background is done with a burin, but am not 100% sure...

Thanks Bungwrench.

Deacon, that is one beautiful knife! Can you give us a ballpark estimate of what something like that runs?
