The Camp knife exceeds even my relatively knowledgeable expectations of Andy's craftsmanship! I had been going back and forth trying to decide between the Camp Knife and the Comp Cutter since he released them. I always thought that at 5/32 thickness the comp cutter would be a better chopper, but a bit big for food prep in camp. I am so glad I waited till now. The Camp Knife in 3/16 with the full grind and tapered tang gives me exactly what I had wanted. The balance is fantastic, and the way it handles is amazing. Pics tomorrow if mother nature cooperates :)

I'd say this thread is worthless without pics, but I know for a fact they're inbound coming from you :P I'm excited to see you put one through its paces mist!

Tomorrow?! Listen here buddy, you forget about the whole "if Mother Nature cooperates" thing and post up a pic of that sucker in your mist-mitts or you're just pullin our leg and don't even have it yet!!

Ok, no problem! I suppose I could just take one with the flash tonight, but no fun in that :)

Grats, looks like a great knife. How much does it weigh? I have been looking to get a Golok and would be curious as to how they would compare, though a 12" machete might be a fairer comparison.

wow! Your pix are just great! You really nailed it! Another perfect example of the Fiddleback Forge species!
Kindest regards from Austria!

DANG - what a knife!! Pictures like these really erode the 'I don't need one of these' thinking - that's for sure...

Gorgeous grind, fantastic scale/liner combination and you know it is all Fiddleback. - Andy hits the bulls-eye again!!

What are your thoughts on a sheath for it?

Thanks, I'm not sure what it weighs, I'll weigh it tomorrow at the UPS Store :) Other than reach, I expect it to do as well at chopping as a 12 inch machete.

I'm speechless.

WOW again, now that's rare :)

Sweet, let us know how she battons

Well, first it's going in a piece I am writing, but you know me, pics of it in use will come soon ;)

wow.. that is a beauty.. always loved that design... :)

hope all is well Andy..

Yeah, me too. I stared longingly at the first ones he released with exotic woods and bolsters, but didn't need anything that fancy. This one is perfect for my needs.

Stunning! That knife won't take any prisoners:D

Oh, I don't know...I think it has captured me pretty well :)

Thank you! I think I'm am getting almost as good at capturing Andy's craftsmanship as he is at producing it, but pics still never really do his knives justice, they have to be felt to really appreciate.

Yeah, I know that technically I needed another knife like I need anther hole in my head. But I have been wanting a larger knife of a non-tactical nature for a long time, and did not want it to just look like a big butcher knife. I love the flare that Andy brings to his work, and this one just nails what I have wanted. So it actually fill a void that had been empty. He really nailed the grind I wanted, and the ergos are phenomenal, I can't stop playing with this one. Well, I am just going to make it a slip sheath for now, but I think since I have friends who have all of the tools they are not using right now, who have been pushing me to try my hand at leather work, that I am going to try my hand at tooling a leather sheath for it.
