Today I stooped at a knife shop at the truck stop in Effingham,IL. I looked at a Coldsteel Voyager tanto version and all I can say it wow! The pictures don't do them justice and I honestly thought they were a really skinny knife from the pictures I have seen but they are in fact quite substantial. They wanted too much for it but I will get one soon!

The Voyager series is, in my opinion, one of the best values in knives right now. Really a great blade.

I handled a tanto but I think ultimately I will roll with a clip point. It would be cool if they made some in that XHP steel! I'd buy one!:)

Going from an accidental posting on the Cold Steel website earlier.

It looks like for 2015, the Voyagers will get Carpenter CTS-BD1 instead of CTS-XHP.

Don't discount the current Aus-8A models though. They have been using it for quite a while now and it has a good track record.

Amen to that. Heat treat is more important than than the steel used, and Cold Steel's heat treat of their AUS-8A is spot on. Great combination of sharpness, edge holding, and ease of resharpening at a great price point.

Good point there, I have to agree with you.

I am surprised that Cold Steel never used VG-10 for their knives too.

Spyderco has used it for quite a while now and it has had a good track record.

I like the high hollow grinds on cold steel folders, very easy to sharpen and sharp as hell...don't have to reprofile it like most knives I own.It cuts and slices just fine, regardless what many haters say.And the lock and price is very good too.Theres better knives , but for price point I don't think so!

Get both the large and XL. The large is a great utilitarian ''do it all'' size. The XL is ...... you'll understand when it's in your hand.
