Color me impressed, I just picked up this one: (my 1st by the way)
9 inch 5 ounce Bilton by Yuvraj Kami. Horn handle. World biggest little Knife at $25
On the 17th and it's here already. The fit and finish are great, and the knife is really cool. The handle is a little too small, but I imagine its is kinda a wall hanger anyway. Unfortunately, it's not what I thought I ordered, ( I wish the pics were linked better with the product in the descriptions) but it's damn fine, gives me the Xmas present I was looking for a friend. Thumbs up to Yangdu, and HI! I'm thinking I might need more of these after seeing this one! :D

Congrats on your first, and probably not last kukri. Biltons are made to be used and the heat treatment is there. You may have to sand / file off the back of the butt of the handle to make up for the shorter handle, but they do work well.

Now go get a 15 incher and see what you're missing :D

I have a bilton as a regular user and I'm very fond of it. Mine holds a heck of an edge.

I did sand the top point of the pommel down a bit, which yields a comfortable three finger grasp, leaving the pinkey curled nicely against the rounded butt. It's not a slicer (much too thick) but it chops surprisingly well for such a tiny blade, and it can get the rosebushes out of your way faster than you might think.

I think the trick to getting the most of it is not to try to use it as a knife, or a hatchet, or a machete, but as a bilton. It has its own strengths and its own technique. Just fool around with it for a while and let it show you what it can do.

Well Said Skyler and MikeJ!
I agree that the "Little" Bilton is a Real Workhorse!!
A Bilton was Our 1st HI Khuk, and it IS a Super piece.... Small enough for EDC if a person wanted to, and yet built like the the larger Khuks.

Put it this way.... that 1st Bilton started my Lady and I on a Most Enjoyable, and what appears to be a Life-Time of Enjoying a Double case of HIKV!!

I've used a Bilton in the kitchen a bit myself. Definitely a "three finger" handle on 'em, but still useful for smaller tasks.

Welcome, and with HI products, you never stop at just one.;)

By way of interest, just what did you think you were ordering?:D

the 'bilton' name comes from south africa, where these smaller kuks were apparently very popular for cutting chunks off their spiced and air dried meat (like jerky), which is called 'biltong' - the final 'g' having been lost in translation somewhere between SA and nepal.

the technical term for the illness transmitted by these steel art objects is HIKV (Himalayan Imports Khukuri Virus) there is no known cure, the only treatment is palliative - buying more khuks, which does ease the pangs tho.
