Photos Wrapping Paper Knives

I'm curious; I recently made a knife that has a chisel going on it. It was only my second, and I had to do that out of necessity. Is there a reason you would want a chisel ground knife? Plusses/minuses?

My dad also prefers to use a knife on wrapping paper. Me...I HATE wrapping stuff.

Not that I'm going to be cutting wrapping paper again any time soon, but I always used one of these back when I had someone to wrap gifts for. Better control for smaller cuts, and for cuts that are not straight, don't cut whatever the paper is on ...

Besides, like cardboard, paper dulls the blade. I don't check my blades sharpness cutting paper, either. Never have.
i use the 60 degrees no slip thumbnail test. I shoot for 80° ~ 85° without the edge slipping off my thumbnail. View attachment 1701630

I love using my scissors and they are probably sharper than most people's (most people in general, not here at BFC) knives. But for wrapping presents a sharp knife is faster and easier.

additional worries about
having to clean up tape glue
on the blade :-)

What’s the brand?
frankly its a pretty generic pattern
flimsy and bendy at times.
some come in plastic handles too.
and yes, its a quick to rust
prc disposable item these days.
just like so many snap-off cutters.
but one could use metal polish
to try and lower chances of having
a run a in with tetanus.
btw, the self-retracting
olfa touch knife is stainless....

I'm thinking that a Dragonfly: sportin' some K390 under the hood; will be more than up to the task...
