We came back from lunch a couple weeks back and Chris said "let's destroy a knife!"

The test subject was a 5/32" tapered tang, 01 Hunter -

Can anyone see this video
We are having technical difficultie

...there we go...

I can see it.

poor hunter... It gave it's life for a good cause though.

It worked for me.

Now put on a hockey mask and drive one through a concrete block and check the edge. That's how true knife reviewers test knives.

Well...I only play a metallurgist on the radio but I'd reckon from a nearly 90-degree bend on a short tang that your heat treating protocols are working pretty good.

You need to baton it through a cold steel.
Gotta love the cold steel guy!

What kind of angle did you get? It's hard to tell from the pipe hiding the handle and tang. Speaking of the pipe and handle, I would be afraid the pipe would mar my handle!

It got to pretty much 90 degrees before it snapped. Given its a deep hardening steel I would say that's pretty darn good. At the end of the video you can see how fine the grain structure is.
