Good Morning and shalom,

I have noticed a lot of SOG knives have holes in the handles for wrist thongs. I realise the knife may look more authentic with a thong but is their use more cosmetic than practical usefulness? Most of my knives will be uses for personal defence; does this make a difference?

......to use his knive's knotted lanyards to secure the knife to your hand/wrist when you are using the tool in a location where you may either drop it into water or otherwise lose it if it's dropped. Hope this helps!

I asked Ron that same question when I got my first Bowie some time ago...:rolleyes:
His response was similar. If you are climbing, or over water, you put on the lanyard. Knife dropped = knife caught.
Basically don't drop your knife... ;) :D problem solved... LOL!

Great to hear that things are going fine for you.

After leaving SOG back in January, Spark asked me if I'd like to be a Super Moderator (since I was no longer a factory representative...thus not "biased" by my job). My response to Spark was: "If I can be of service..." As a Super Mod, I don't do much. ;) Regarding what we do, just think of forum moderators as "local law enforcement with jurisdiction in their neighborhood” and super moderators as "law enforcement with broad jurisdiction throughout all the neighborhoods.” The way I look at it is that the Super Mods here to be a support and resource to those who do the real work: the moderators of the various forums (and of course to Spark, himself).

My family is doing well. Not many of you yet know that I’m in a new job (after leaving SOG back in January). I’ve been hired into a newly created, key position as Office Manager for a local service-oriented company and serve with the two other managers (the General Manager and the Operations Manager) to oversee our corporate division. So far, so good! It's also good to be employed again.
