Well, I am going to write an honest review here, I'll start with the attributes. The scabbard is awesome, it has the super super frog, and is the best constructed scabbard I have. The leather was nice looking, and fairly soft. The blade is as sharp as a razor. The finish was good, and so was the fit. The problem arose with the handle. I was out chopping some large areas of thisel, and had no problem what so ever. It tore through the thisel cleanly and I was able to chop throughout my entire swing and left nothing behind standing. Then I gave it a few chops on a log and noticed it had a hell of a lot of bite. At first I figured it really isn't made to chop, but I wasn't subjecting it to too much, just some moderatly strong swings. It bit for the first few licks and then it just stung like hell. I looked at the handle and saw a crack running down both sides of the handle, every bit of four and a half inches. So from bolster to ring the handle was cracked. As I said earlier the blade is great, it is as hard as a rock and razor sharp. The handle, unfortunatly, was the downfall. So now I am reluctant to buy another wood handled knife, even though a wood handled Gelbu Special is on the way to my house. The Gelbu, unlike the Kobra, is going to be a hanger. The Gelbu is like the "most beatiful blem to date" post, and will not see any action. And even though I only planned on doing a little work with the Kobra, it is on its way back to Uncle Bill.
