Here is a dagger made from wrought iron (salvaged from an 1840 Lake Erie sunken steam boat), nickel foil and 15n20. 9" OAL, naturally featured manzanita, nickel silver spacers, mild steel pins, rawhide wrap. This was fun to make and my first (almost) perfect weld using this combination. And it is always interesting trying to use these naturally featured scales.. you never know exactly how it will come out until you start sanding down.

That's one scary looking dagger.
I really like the way the san mai goes with the rustic manzanita handle.
Great looking knife!

Scott, that is nothing less than fantastic!!! Beautiful work!

Outstanding photo too!

Impressive

thanks guys.. .I was just saying on another forum how this picture is bothering me and I might re-do it. It is showing some kind of black line between the rawhide and the wood that just isn't there... I look at the picture and want to re-do the whole knife.. but then I go back and look at the knife and I love it again.

I had to come back and look at that knife a few times, and I must say that every time I do it grows on me a bit.
Very unique, and well done.

thanks again folks....

Mike I will post a close up of the blade. It's really incredible the detail in my slaggy wrought.

Terry it just needs sharpened and a couple more coats of oil.. and maybe another picture or two and I will send... Looking forward to seeing your sheath...

sure thing... I already had this one... But I can take another tomorrow if you want me to lay it out flat for a better look...
