Well, my son and I made it to the Blade Show yesterday; much bigger than I expected! I wasnt really looking for anything in particular, just looking for some fellow WSS members. We almost didn't go as it's been a very busy couple of weeks and my batteries were running a little low. I'm quite happy we took the time and my son can't stop talking about all the cool people and amazing knives.
My son did end up with a cool little Blind Horse Knives neck knife for a very reasonable price. What was really neat was the simple little sliding screw set that acted as a locking mechanism:
I ran into Rick Magnusssen and Mystwalker, but didnt get any shots I was afraid Rick would break my camera! He actually bought a really cool folder from Blade-Tech a folder that doubles as a compact Ulu knife pretty slick! Rick also showed me his Guppy (I think that's right?) fixed blade he made and to handle it in person really makes the difference as I thought his handles were a little on the thin side. One of his blades will be in my future...I'm sure if he would have had it on the table, it would have been snatched up!
My son was very excited about meeting Ernest Emerson and to show him his Horseman folder. Mr. Emerson was quite gracious and let me take a picture of him and my son:
It was a great show with a lot of steel and very friendly people. Here are some of our very own:
Andy Roy:
Dan Koster:
Brian Goode:
Tim Wegner of Blade-Tech (a very good family friend)
I had a great talk with Rick Hinderer and got to thank is lovely wife for the incredible care package I received in Iraq when I ordered his bomb-proof folder what a great couple!
I also got to spend some time talking to Ryan of RMJ Forge where I ran into Mercop and Brian (Mystwalker). Mercop was very kind to my son
I missed Marshall of Going Gear, but I did see his little corner with more LED lights than you could imagine!
I thought I saw Joe, but wasnt too sure. Also, ran into Dave Canterbury and his wife, but didnt realize it was him.
Overall, we had a great time and look forward to next year!
