Good day all,

I am looking for a Kephart style knife with a skinning belly, in magnacut. I already have my “rough knife” for camp building, and I’d like to get a knife for everything else (camp kitchen, food prep, fish gutting, skinning everything from rabbit to caribou, etc…). PNW location, everywhere from Olympics to Frank Church wilderness.

Style wise some sort of cross between the Kephart, and something like a Russell green river skinning knife and/or nessmuk. Thin blade given the purpose, handle I haven’t thought about much other than not wood for durability purposes.

I have sent messages to some knife makers but have no clue who actually has some experience with this kind of style and magnacut.

Any suggestions for makers? Anyone here?

it seems to to. Really I’m worried about very stainless for this given where I live, then balance tough and edge retention. Happy for suggestions on other material.

MagnaCut is awesome imo. There have been some really great Kephart and Nessmuck style knives for sale recently by great makers in other steels.

You might reach out to David Mary about one in MagnaCut.

Excellent Kepharts in hard AEB-L from Carothers and Volunteer Knife.
