I am looking for a Severtech sharpener, been a while since I have been here , maybe I'll luck up and find one. Later

That thing looks really dangerous. While your moving the stone onto the edge, you're holding onto the stone without anything between your hand and the edge. Really poor design!

Interesting... It looks like all they make is wharncliffe and tanto blades, and that is all this device will sharpen. No way to work a knife that has a belly on it?

I'm sure it'll work on other blade profiles but the main problem for me is, that you're holding on the the stone while you're pushing the stone onto the edge. Any mistake and your fingers are on the knife edge.

Short strokes with you fingers in a precarious position. Not well thought out. IMO

seems to me that you would be holding the rod on top of the stone, and it does look to be mission/knife specific. The Severtech knife is a tank, but has a "tanto" style blade, I want to preserve the crisp angle and I'm not sure I can do that with my current sharpening kits. Any suggestions.

I'd be curious how... most rod/clamp devices rotate on a pivot in an arc to do a curve... this looks like it's fixed. It might do one but doesn't look like it was designed to. Don't know... just an observation based on the video. You're right, not well thought out in how to hold it... looks like it would be easy to add a handle or knob to though.

What do you have now? The key to tanto blades is to just sharpen the 2 sections separate w/o moving across the tanto point... it's more of a technique, and not so much what you use.

I have the Lansky and Smith sharpening kits. I know you would sharpen it as 4 sides/2 edges. I guess I will have to just be patient and be careful. Thanks for the tips. Later M

I will ask Aaron as soon as he calls me back. Whenever that will be.

I know it's a "band aid" fix (no pun intended), believe it or not, but you could buy a pair of those pro fish filleter's gloves for that job. They have gotten quite thin and functional over the years...or check out tactical "anti sharps" type LE gloves, but I'd bet the former would be best. Just a thought. Or form a handle-I can see potential on top there. Best of luck.
