hello,
looking for used contact wheels.
since I don´t have the dough to buy new ones I thought I ask here where I could find some used ones

size doesn´t really matter... small,medium,... I just need some softer contact wheels..the ones I use now are hard as a rock
good for profiling but that´s about it.

thx

Please email me if you have any wheels to offer : fredslan@gmail.com

Tracy at usaknifemaker.com has a good supply of them. Some are budget wheels for a fair price and the better ones come from Rob at beaumontmetalworks.com, which Tracy also sells.

You might have a hard time finding used ones.

You will have a real hard time finding used as if they are still useable, their still in use. If they aren't useable their in the trash. Good contact wheels are worth the money. I have seen some homemade from plywood turned on a lathe or their other avenues but none are really cheap! Yor wheels are not really where you want to scrimp.
Here is a list of wheels or prospects for useable wheels that I compiled but in the end I spent the money and bought the good ones! I did buy a grzzly 10"wheel and have it cut for bearings and have them pressed into it. For my drive pulleys and idlers I went with Beaumont :http://www.beaumontmetalworks.com/ home of the KMG grinder and for my platen I went with one 3" from KMG and one 1 1/2"from Mickley>

Your profile lists Austria - Shipping , duty and taxes from USA may kill you.

You may also like to search locally.
I know the shipping from Tracy to Canada plus taxes and such is the price of a wheel.

I live in an industrial centre and there are services listed as rubber vulcanizing - or contact wheels
they can recoat your existing or new wheel hubs for a fraction of the price of a new wheel.

I see used contact wheels on ebay from time to time. Some looked like good deals. Others were not even "contact wheels" at all, but wire or buffing wheels. Be careful what you buy.
