Sorry if I got this in the wrong forum... wasnt sure where to put it...

Okay... so I just ran across this web site...
http://aculeatetechnologies.com/acutac_001.htm

Okay... so I'm one who is all for radical blade designs, but... uhhh... is it *just* me... or do these just push limits to a point where you arent sur eif you want to laugh, or be sick?  :barf:

Sorry if I'm not as "in the know" as I should be, and these are the next wave in ultimate cutting tools...
if so, somebody please enlighten me.

What the hell were they smoking, injecting, and sniffing when they came up with those things cause those arnt knives.

This link pops up from time to time, as it's a collection of remarkably ugly and silly knives (IMHO, YMMV and all that) but I'm curious about a couple points.
1. I wonder if these knives have actually been built? Some of the "knife pictures" look suspiciously like models or computer generated images.

2. If they have been built, has anyone ever actually bought one?

As to getting sick or laughing...

I guess it depends on what kind of knives you consider them.

If someone tells me they bought it because it's an "Art Knife" I'll just laugh when I get home. (I wouldn't hurt their feelings by laughing in their face.)

If I saw someone carrying one at deer camp, I think I'd probably just be sick.
:barf:

UNK! CUTTER THING WORKUM GOOOOODDDD!!! CHIPPED FROM FRESH STONE!!!

ME GO KILLUM BABY MAMMOTH WITH WHACKABONK CLUB AND SKIN WITH BOOTIFUL ART KNIFE!!

FEED'UM TRIBE FOR MANY MOONS!!

:D :D (pardon me folks, been drinkin' a little tonight) *L*

Those are seriously ugly. And i'd get sick and start laughing at the same time if someone tried to use one of those for anything, even as a paperweight.

Doubt that they really have been made. The photos are cgi (or other comp method). If someone actually could grind them from one piece of steel, I would buy it!

Think of the skill that would be needed to actually make one!!!!

Be one heck of a conversation piece.

Two of them look like the latest high-tech Pakistani impressions of Laci Szabo originals. The one with the D-guard looks dangerous to pick up.

Esav, if you were a "law enforcement, military, or tactical trainer," you would know how to pick the D guard model up safely! That's why it is restricted to those highly trained categories of special operators.

I'll just stick with my Hibben 12-bladed Cosmo Warriors, thank you. They are at least safe for me to pick up, although sheathing them can be tricky...

Karl

PS RWS is right--they do look "napped," not "ground." Perhaps that is their secret method?

LMAO!!!
Esav, I think you should get a prize for being able to put the words "high-tech" and "Pakistani" in one sentence!!

Hey, you elitists!! I love my "Mongwolf". It'll be my new EDC as soon as I get done reprofiling it. Very sheeple friendly, IMHO.

Komondor, some of those knives at Centipede-arms look OK to me. Those Acutac designs don't turn my crank though. I am sure that there are people that would buy them.

Hey, I like that Pirrihno better than a lot of that Hibben stuff so many people collect. Not saying I'd be fool enough to buy one, but it looks meaner.

;)

:barf:

It is obvious to me that the ACUTAC guys don't know a damn thing about designing a REAL, USEABLE knife.
What the heck are they thinking?

Sure, they might appeal to some collectors, but, as for real world users, I just don't think we will be seeing them on the waists of the local PD or with the military. They just don't look practical or user friendly.

I kind of like some of those centipede arms pieces. I would definitely consider them to be art pieces rather than users.

The link at the end of this thread used to have pics of actual knives. I remember one looked like it had a reddish-brown powder coat or something similar.

OK What can one say about someones radical, no nothing about practical, usable, and down right useless design concepts. FUGLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sci fi bs

I am sure there are some teenagers that watch all the sci fi 24/7 just drooling over them in some surburb anywhere in america.

I keep coming back to look at these. I cannot tell if I am horrified or intrigued.

They do look pretty primal.

Esav, I think you should get a prize for being able to put the
words "high-tech" and "Pakistani" in one sentence!!

Definitely! Along the same lines, it's funny how "Gil Hibben art knives" made it into this thread as well.
