WTF Clip screw broken

Hi all,

Right away i'am somewhat pissed. I searched for a new EDC and found the Paramilitary 2 Sprint run Earth Brown. Well, there was no way to find it in Germany. So I searched for 4 month to find it. I waited 7 1/2 week for shipment.
It's a great knife, I really like it. After all I want to try to carry it tip up like my Tenacious but it was a little bit uncomfortable. When I tightened the screws, one of them broke right in the middle. No use of brute force! WTF. I've collected pocket knifes for 5 years now and got more than 25 folders and no screw breaks until now even at the cheapest chinese crap.
I'm somewhat disappointed. This is my fourth knife from Spyderco. no problems until now.
I don't want to wait another 7 weeks to get this knife repaired, so I keep carrying it.
The next knife on my "want to have"-list is the Military titanium, but maybe I should think it over.

Kind regards

Andre

As i said. I wouldn't send it to the States.

So who said anything about you sending anything anywhere? What I suggested was that you let Spyderco customer service know, they are the ones that can help you. Sometimes screws break, and get stripped. They've sent out replacement stuff before.

Email Spyderco customer service and let them know. They will take care of you.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they can mail you another screw.

Just bad luck, stuff happens. I've changed clips many times on Spydercos, and have never had a screw break.
Shoot them an email.

The problem is, half of the screw sticks still in the liner. Perhaps i will contact the customer service.

I live in Germany. It's very time-consuming and expensive to get a knife to the United States. I wrote yesterday to the costumer service. So let's wait, what they say about this.

There seems to be a trend going on about people breaking Spyderco screws. Just chilax on the tightening people.

Yeah, I agree. I'm not saying the OP overtightened or anything but I've never broken a clip screw on any of the countless Spydercos that have passed though my hands. I'm thinking it was maybe a defect in the screw.

Not sure why one broken screw has ruined your wish list for the military :P

Just shoot them an email for another screw. Take out the two remaining and switch it to tip up and just leave the broken bit in the liner?
Or did you already try tip up and didn't like it and the screw broke when you switched back to tip down? My brain never turned on today. My apologies. I've only owned 3 spydies but I've never even heard of this happening before. It had to have been a junk screw.

I wouldn't worry about that screw. Seeing as how shipping it to the states would be extremely difficult, I would just use it as is and not go through the hassle
