I was at the beach today surfing a little and saw an old pressure treated piling laying on the shore, and all I could think about was my WTF. I was able to chop through that ole piling in 15-20 minutes. Honestly my arm was a little tired and I could feel my forearm pumping a bit, but the WTF made it through with flying colors (more like wood chips). I could definitely see a few other chopper blades going on through, but not in the same amount of time and I bet they would take a lot more effort. I've done a similar test with choppers from other knife makers and their edges were freakin destroyed when it came to having any real usable edge. But after the fact the WTF still made a decent little slice in a piece of copy paper. The edge may not be swine shaving sharp after all that chopping and batoning, but it is still very usable and if this is like the last chopping test I did on a similar sized cedar log it'll only take a few passes on a fine diamond stick and a few more on a fine ceramic rod and the War train will be right back to swine shaving. I honestly took "we have no rivals" to be nothing more than marketing hype just like any other knife company goes on and on about. With Busse and kin it's the customers that go on and on about these wonderful knives because they truly.. Have No Rivals. Happy Sunday everybody.

We all love our action shots...

Korean Hog, hopefully you & the forum see your thread now. :) the VBulletin forum software sometimes automatically holds threads for moderator approval. Yer good to go. :)

You may have to try other versions of the links provided by Yahoo. Photobucket calls the link that works in discussion forums "IMG" as opposed to "Email & IM" or "HTML".
These links may or may not work with the picture 'button' on the toolbar above the text box here on BladeForums. You may need to just try them all. :)

Nice pictures. I'm sure it just eats through whatever you put in front of it! I gave up my order and regret it, though it was the responsible choice.

Were you wearing gloves? If not, how did the handle (canvas?) feel in hand?

No I wasn't wearing gloves and I've got a couple blisters that I'm blaming on my hands being too soft. Seriously though, any tool that you're using that hard will blister your hands after a time if you're not wearing gloves and/ or you've got some soft skin that needs to be calloused up. The main thing for me is that with a simple lanyard the War Train's fusion handle stays secure in hand, positive traction at all times. The blade felt in control the entire time and the well blended curves flowed well with the blade to deliver authoritative strikes. I'm not kidding or exaggerating when I say wear safety glasses/ sunglasses. There were chips flying the entire time. I had to shake em out of my hair before going inside :D I describe the handle like a traditional kukri handle with better grip and improved design characteristics that minimize fatigue and maximize chopping efficiency.

Awesome! Can't wait to try a fusion handle

nice posting thank you. I too like to see the action. Always love to hear the stories as well. You are correct a hunk of pressure treated like that will destroy most lesser knife edges. nice to hear the Busse kept on ticking.

Now that's a fitting first chop for your WTF, a pressure treated piling!
Nice work!

Makes me wish I had a WTF and a pressure treated piling. Oh well. I'll just have to live vicariously. ...
