Funny, the guy tells you not to bid if you don't have any feedback, but he doesn't have any feedback.

These were marketed during the 80's. Must have never caught on - now they're collectors items.

It's a 2002 Dive Probe. Spyderco made a few diving tools:

~2002 Dive Probe was introduced in 1988 13 5/8 inches opened, blade was 440C MSRP in 1990 was $169.95

~2003 Mini Dive Probe, introduced 1990, 10 7/8 inches opened, 440C blade MSRP in 1990 was $119.95

~1988 we introduced the 2001 Pre-Diver (the predecessor to the Snap-It). 8/12 inches overall, open, blade was 3", right-hand only serrated only. MSRP in 1990 was $94.95

All are rare and were made in limited numbers.

Yeah, I remember when I found my first one in a pawn shop a few years ago. I had no idea what it was and asked the guy behind the counter to show it to me. When I saw "Spyderco" stamped on it, I couldn't believe it! Growing up in South. Calif. beaches I finally guessed it was an abalone harvesting tool. It was mint so I bought it. I've had several in the years since with Michael Mac getting my last small.

These things garnered more attention from non knife people than all my other knives put together. These large ones are quite a hunk of 440C!

Nice info Joyce! Sal told me they were just too expensive to produce any longer.

A local shop I visit has one of these. I am not sure of the price though. Is it worth picking up?
