Man, this is getting confusing. I get home from work to see if there was any replies to my H.E.S.T. sheath question, and I can't find it anywhere.

Turns out that my thread has been moved to a RYP forum?

My H.E.S.T. has ESEE-USA on the side of the pry bar. That makes it a ESEE forum question, doesn't it?

Doc

check the stickies.

The stickie says, "ESEE will continue to warranty HEST knives made with the ROWEN name on them."

Even though it isn't a warranty question, that suggests to me that it is ESEE relevant.

Maybe I'll just go back to W&SS where I understand what's going on.

Doc

the hest was never an ESEE knife, ESEE may have collaborated with RYP and made the knife but it is not an ESEE. up until this point in time there has been no DPx forum on bladeforums so hest knives were discussed here. but since there is a more appropriate forum discussion takes place there.

I can't for the life of me figure out why everyone is freaking out about the split between Esee and DPX.

No GP,

ESEE and DPX Hest are two different companies. However, ESEE will continue to warrantee your knife since it was made by Rowan.

No, ESEE and DPX are not upset at eachother. It was a mutual break up for the better. Jeff and Pelton are still good buddies.

And no, Jeff doesn't pay for a hair cut, he does it himself. (as if anyone would pay for a hair cut like that)

Thats why your thread was moved, so quityerbitchin ya cranky old bastid:p

All the best,

GS

If you're referring to me, I don't give a rat's ass (no pun intended) about their split up. I read the 12 pages this morning ( no I don't have a life).

I have no interest in RYP or his forum. It was just a simple question about tightening up a sheath.

GS, see above.

Over and out.

Doc,

you are correct and I apologize. We had instructed the mods here to move all HEST related posts to the DPx forum. However, you post should not have been moved since the HEST you own and asked a question about is indeed made by ESEE and the sheath is made by ESEE. Again, I apologize for this. The mods were only doing what we ask them to. Anyway, let us know if you got the sheath fixed, and if you didn't maybe we can try a new sheath to see if it's any tighter.

Jeff

I know I had some retention issues with my HEST a while back. I tried moving the tension screw to the top of the sheath by the choil but it was too tight. Then someone suggested using one of the rubber spacers. This lets me adjust the tension and keeps the tension screw from falling out when not properly tightened. It has worked great for me ever since.

God bless,
Adam

good deal, I've just noticed I have sheath issues only after removing my zip ties, I'll have to try that. (if I don't sell the knife first):D

Hey, no worries, Jeff. Thanks for getting back to me. I was wondering what was going on. I couldn't find my post anywhere, and in W&SS, when a thread is moved, there is still a record of it in W&SS. Here, nada! I was starting to blame the antibiotics I'm on, for a kidney infection (with stones :( )

Anyway, let us know if you got the sheath fixed, and if you didn't maybe we can try a new sheath to see if it's any tighter.

Many thanks for the offer (if it is one  ) but the looseness was caused by me, not a shortcoming of ESEE or Rowen, so a new sheath is not required.

Once again, thanks for getting back to me.

Hey Doc,

I have a damn-near mint condition OEM sheath for a HEST. I had a custom Kydex sheath made and the original HEST sheath is somewhere in my junk drawer just collecting dust. I'll send out a search party for it and if I can find it let me know if you want it. No charge as long as you promise to give it a good home.

If you have some of that martial arts/wrestling dense foam rubber mat material, just heat up the kydex with a hair dryer, and squish the sheath between the mats (kneel on them) with the knife in the sheath.
Keep heating and squishing. Sometimes you can heat and squish at the same time.
If it gets too tight, heat it up and loosen.:)

That is very generous of you. But knowing Doc as I do; he will not accept it. He has helped me out in many ways and when I tried to give him an Izula for his troubles he wouldn't accept. However, I sent it to a mutual friend who forced it apon him, so he had to accept it.:D I don't take no for an answer well...
But hey, he is getting older so who knows...

At GP, sorry to hear about the stones, may they pass quickly and with little pain. Feel better.

Hey Scott, very generous. Thank you but I'm ok. In fact, I'm thinking if I don't resolve it. I may, when the finance gods are smiling, get Eric at On Scene Tactical to make a custom one for me. I would really like to see a picture of your custom one, though.

Hey stabman, that's kind of what I'm looking for. Thank you. I have some ensolite pad that may do the job. Just don't know where I'll find a hair dryer (as I scratch my bald head :( )

GS, thanks for making it unnecessary for me to post . And thanks for the good wishes re: 'Satan's stones'. Finished the antibiotic last night, so now just have to get everything working normally.

Glad to hear it's only me getting older.

Cheers! And thanks again, everyone.
