I have an RC-3. Been carrying it a while, oiled it, etc...but never REALLY used it. I bought a big chunk of fatwood for camping because it was cheap and figured I'd process it myself. Since I've never batoned before I started with the camp axe and eventually got comfortable enough to only use my RC-3.

This little knife it amazing went through the fatwood like butter and the blade, spine, etc are in perfect condition despite my clumsy batoning.

I didn't really need to sharpen it but I did touch it up with my sharpmaker. Easy to sharpen too!

I cleaned the resin off the blade with rubbing alcohol and noticed it cleaned up the linen micarta scales too. Any harm in that?

Anyway, nothing really new here. Just that the RC-3 rocks!

Adding picture as requested. No action shots and I already cleaned the blade. But you can see the scuffs. Sorry, I only have a crap camera on me right now and the lighting is terrible.

good job - glad you got over that "first scratch fear"!
use the knife, that's what it's designed for. :D

Broke my RC-5 in this weekend chopping and splitting wood for the camp. Aww the black finish has its first battle scars!

If you had really "broke:eek:" the RC-5 I am sure EVERYONE here would need to hear you managed it and see pic's of what you did. A train wreck is the only thing that I can think of to hurt that beast.

When I first read your post I thought it said broke my RC-5...not broke in my RC-5

That is what I thought it said also. I then thought there is no way in h**l I could have read that right. So back I go and re-read it to see he actually said "broke in". ;) I thought he was superman or something for a minute. :D
