Up for sale is a lrg sebenza classic with desert ironwood inlays and a BG42 blade. It has been hand smoothed on all of the sandblasting which gives it a somewhat antique appearance. It is in excellent shape apart from some very minor scratches near the tip and some barely visible ones dotted around the blade. It's beautifully sharp, quite literally sends the hairs flying. I love how this one feels in hand and wish that I could hold onto it but am selling to fund a new car. Action is superbly smooth and lockup is like a bank vault. There's a little surprise on the lanyard that I'm sure you'll appreciate;)!
No box with this one...

how do you know its bg42? What is the born on stamp say on the inside of the TI handles? There should be a letter and two numbers.

OR

if you take it apart is there a stamp on the blade near the pivot hole? One letter perhaps?

The inside of the front slab is stamped with B-01. The previous owner said he though it was BG42 but wasn't completely sure so I made some inquiries to a man who's been collecting Sebenza's for 2-3 decades and he said that from what I told him he's pretty sure that the blade is BG42 and that he thought it was a good find :)

From my understanding the stamp indicates the year it was made but I'm not entirely sure because the last sebenza I sold was stamped B-09 and the official birth certificate said jan 2010! It was inscribed though so it may have been sitting in the CRK warehouse first and then been re-boxed/birthed after the inscription...

The stamp on the inside of the scale always differs from the certificate- the certificate is the date of completion of the knife, the stamp on the scale is when the specific scale was manufactured. Hope that helps?
