I know this probably ain't the place for tis thread but this is the main area of Bf that I stay in. Just wanted to post this in memory of the 29 Wva Miners that lost their lives doing a Job to make life easier for the rest of the country;) As a coalminer my self I also work for Massey Energy & this really hits home for me & mine:(
My prayers go out to the Families !

I was thinkin about you the other day and was gonna see how you where going on facebook, you doin ok????? I was in Raleigh co. last weekend and took a tour of a coalmine in Beckley..It made put things in perspective as of how hard that job really is......

Very sad indeed. God bless them and their families.

Be safe brother!

I have also been thinking about you Bro

Stay safe and prayers sent for the families of those who lost loved ones

Coaldigger, those families have been in my prayers all week. and will contiue to be in my prayers. I have never worked in the mines but 5 generations of my Dads family before me were miners and I know Mom's dad and 3 generations before him were miners . I have cousins that and freinds who are miners, so it is still close to home for me. Plus you,d have a hard time swinging a potato sack around and not hitting some one related to me in putnam, cabell or lincoln counties
I also know you guys are responsable for more than half the electric in this country And take pride in what you do

Thanks, It ain't easy...if it was everyone would be doing it ;)

We're in GA now but we're from Mercer County, WV, so it hit pretty close to home for us too. The families and communities were in our church's prayers at each service this past Sunday.

Both of my fathers grandparents were coal miners in PA. My great grandfather went down the mine shafts when he was 13 years old, fresh off the boat from Poland. My other grandfather did numerous jobs underground. Family stories are still chilling to think about. Many prayers for those men, and many prayers for the men and women who still make the daily trek underground.

Feel sorry for those guys. Not feeling a lot of love for Don Blankenship though;)

I'm not a Don fan but I must say this isn't really his fault....Massey Energy really does put Safety #1, you wouldn't believe all the extra safety rules, more than the Feds require....like the Reflective stripes we must wear, thats a Massey Law & we must wear Safety glasses from the time we hit company property & you must wear metatarsul (spelling?) steeltoe mining boots & metacarpal(Spelling?) gloves ! They also require we maintain 20,000 air across the face The feds don't require none of this, You really wouldn't believe all the Rules we have ! Don't misunderstand me, I'm not standing up for Don, I just wanted to let you know that the Company really does Push safety as #1....now how the mine forman inforces the rules at his mine is a different story  Don has put alot of money into safety.
I do agree with the people that "YES" Don should have made a personal stop or done something to try to correct these problems at that particular mine after all the trouble they had before Last Mon.

I was really worried about you. My prayers go out to the families of the miners lost.

Thanks for the concern 'Ol Bud  Ain't it something how people have never met in person & can still be good friends :) BF-W&SS is a great place

Coal Digger,

I hear you. I was more referring to him buying a judge on the WV Supreme Court.

Although not exactly the same area, my whole family are coal miners in KY ( Hazard/Harlan area) and we know the pain and heartache of cave ins as well. In fact I lost a cousin in the Arch of KY #32 a few years ago. Anyway, I just wanted to say I'm sorry and I've also been thinking of and praying for all those involved in this ordeal.

I really feel for the miners and they're loved ones. I have several family members and friends that work in the mines, my heart dropped when I heard about this. I was relieved when I heard the folks I know were okay, but my heart still breaks for those that are not.

I hear ya HD, Don isn't getting much love from folks I know around WV! I don't know all the facts, so I do my best to refrain from commenting.

Coaldigger, its good to hear that Massey puts so much into safety, I guess this goes to show that you can never make somethings "safe". I'm sure mines are much safer now than they were years ago, but its all relative.

If anyone here has been affected by this tragedy, my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Brandon
