My WW11 sheath has just got here. very interesting, its well made ,covered in brown leather with a brass chape. the leather is thicker than any sheath covering I have ever seen and is still supple , the sheath is in great shape you could use it for day to day carry if you wanted to. I am makeing a frog for it with saddle leather and two old swiss army rucksack leather tie down straps. the sheath is marked with a 3,1944,o,a broad arrow, and 873. the stitching is very even and tight. I also noticed the raised area that the frog is below is very large giving a very large surface to hold the frog in place. I wonder if sheaths were made stronger back in the days when you always carried your knife everywhere you went. I also got a chackma and 3 kardas all in rusty but excellent shape. The next thing I have my sights on is a big heavy duty villager and an 18th cen. model. I was well on my way to this goal when a head gasket on my car blew out - curse the luck! Oh well, one of these days ...
