OOOOOH sooo Beautiful! This is the best knife I have ever seen I’m in shock!

I bought this knife as a working knife. It was a blem to begin with I was expecting a rough painful crack in the handle that i would have to sand down ect...instead it was simply a mark that adds character to it imho... as soon as it got it home I went outside and chopped a nice size wedge out of a 4x4 block of wood I got out back. it worked better then some hatchets I have around the house!

but the gorgeous polish got marred and I couldn’t bring myself to use it any longer I pleaded with the knife for forgiveness but the blemish I inflected on it kept smirking at me.

can anyone offer any tips to bring this knife back to the mirror finish it previously had, maybe then I’ll be redeemed.

If the knife is to be a user don't worry about the finish. You can get a Kothimoda later and hang it on the wall for something nice to look at.

I'm with Uncle--if you're gonna use it, its gonna get some wear. Just adds character, like scars, wrinkles, tanning, or tattoos on humans.

However, it is why I have a number of khuks. One user khuk, and a few cool-to-look-at khuks. So use the WWII as much as you want, and I'm sure Uncle cam lead you to a fine looking khuk.

Also, you could etch or blue the entire surface of the khuk, or just the working area. These finishes can hide work marks and wear, and keep rust down.

I bought this knife as a working knife.

That's what was made for. That's why khuks hold an irresistable attraction for me.

You can sorta smooth things out by using fine emory paper or steel wool with buffing compounds or metal polish. To me it gives the best of both worlds, a smooth, fairly shiny polish and the inevitable scars of life remain, but add character.

Kinda like people.

But you can get a wall-hanger that you keep in pristine condition if you want. :)

My advice:

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I got my khuks. Look at it like this, whoever made your khuk's made them to be used and you will get the most pleasure out of them knowing that in 50 years time they will still be as pretty but a little aged. Every mark you put on that blade is a memory and it's you're memories !!

I have 4 khuks now and the only one I don't use is my GS - it is my weapon and not a tool. It would handle anything I'm sure - Sher made it but my others are by Bura and they all have been used, my chiruwa is my main user but I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them !! Out of respect for Bura they must be fed once in awhile.

I don't think any body could have said that much better. Maybe Uncle Bill, but that is why I still use my 15" AK by Bura, Respect. I keep his 20 Sirupati nice and shiny and save if the snakes that I find still this late in the year. Now if I have special work to do with the khuks two must leave the house.

The knife that was bought to use and has a few marks of experiences and work done still looks like a beautiful knife to me.:)

I have to second the commment that someone made about the HI knives being the best there is. I have been in love with them from the git go. The first one I held in my hands I was shaking like a dog trying to pass a peach seed.

Old Marines are some of my best customers and at least one of them has become a best friend. Why is that?

For One, most Marines that I know like to associate with the good guys. I've met a couple of losers but that is a rare bird.

Then there is the old saying about "Birds of a feather". There are a lot of reasons that certain folks are drawn together. I don't have enough real friends that I can pass up good folks. The Marines that I know are usually a bit careful what folks they call friend. I think I could find a few on the forum starting with Uncle Bill. If I can arrange it I may take a trip to Reno some time.:D

Rumor has it that Bill has the most fabulous Katana in Reno...so perfectly balanced that it cuts a floating thread with a wrist twist, so finely finished that the stars are envious, so in harmony with the Universe that the one who holds it becomes a finer person....

No, wait...I think he's going to keep that...or was he to sell it to Brendan?...no, that's right...he was going to keep it.

Well, I guess you'll just have to use the one you have. Enjoy.

 :D

Uncle Bill's front door is always open to old Marines, Swabbies, Flyboys, Grunts, and others who saw fit to offer up life and limb if need be in service to this country. I'm old enough and have seen enough to know just how lucky I am and how valuable this life we live here really is.

THE scratches adds character,use it as u'r GO knife.Then u can buy another 2 as show knives,Like I did.!!!!!:D ;) :)....FRANK
