WW2 damascus sword on ebay, cheap.

I would guess it is a copy. I have never seen a damascus steel katana, or a blade with writing on the blade itself. It is usually under the saya, or hilt. Handle wrapping is very badly done, scabbard looks too new, hanging straps look wrong. There is just too much that doesn't look correct.

Aha, click on 'Sellers Other Items'! Do you think the guy can be that lucky to stumble on 197 similar items? He even has a 'genuine' WW1 katana with a fuller in the blade. Now that is rare! Wow, he has another described as 'Rare WW II Japonic yataghan copper & gilt sheath!'.

An English Officer would be laughed off the parade ground with that.

Notice he is based in Shanghai China? I think that answers your question. Save your money. Actually, I have just thought, that blade is probably 4 foot long and is Damascus steel and currently going for just under $8. How many knives could you make with it?

Alot of fake swords out of China.
Even though it looks like damascus, I'd venture to say it's just etched that way...
Only about $100 to ship it, too...

Guy's i had a experience with one of these "Swords" they are 100% real Damascus !!I sanded it and re-etch and found real damascus . a "Friend " of mine bought one off of e-bay and asked me to check it out , the heat treat is very poorly done , the blade etches just as normal damascus does , you can re heat treat it with good result's . the fitting's are all total crap but for the steel alone ?? the one i checked out was later sold to a "Maker " who wanted damascus but was not willing to buy proper steel , everything was told him upfront , he bought it cut it up and made several blades from it saying it heat treated great !! Go figure !! for cheap steel maybe it is worth the money as long as it heat treat's right . i prefer to pound my own but that is just me .
