Does anyone know if a batch of "True Temper" machete's were manufactured with wooden handles during WW2? I compared this machete seen in these two photos to one owned by a collector which was manufactured the same year and it has a yellow/brown plastic handle which is representative of every other example I have seen of a "True Temper" WW2 era military issue machete. The wood handle riveting is identical to the example with the plastic handle which leads me to believe it was manufactured this way. Wartime manufacturing contracts did not allow any deviation from original specifications so I was wondering if any of the forum members/collectors might have some information on this variation.
