WWBD

I recently saw an article in the newspaper about the "What Would Jesus Do?" (WWJD) bracelets. Now it is branching off into Buddhism. Bill, maybe some of Yangdu's relatives would like something like it, spelled in the Nepalese alphabet. You would have to find someone who does crafts and is literate though. Hopefully, you wouldn't have to worry about copyright violations or anything like that. Any thought, guys?

Take a look at http://www.cnn.com/STYLE/9910/11/powerbeads.ap/index.html .

How about a "good vibes" khukuri, focused towards the new-age market. When worn on the waist it is guaranteed to give of powerful vibrations that discourage muggings, assaults, etc.

Khukuri FAQ

A year ago last July, I went to my eldest uncle's funeral. I just happened to have strung together and brought with me a letter/spacer bead necklace that said "*UBI*CARITAS*ET*AMOR*DEUS*IBI*EST*" (Latin for " Where there is charity and love, there is God ".) Gave it to one cousin after the service and sent others to each cousin later. What I wanted to do to the preacher who told us my uncle had gone to hell with the 38 1/2"
bladed 48" oal hand-and-a-half sword behind the truck seat is another story. And I've told it before.... http://www.a-work-of-art.sitehosting.net/page08.htm ( #2142 - 3rd from top )

( I'm back and I've cooled down. I just have a very low tolerance for the kind of people who just have to make decisions for whatever deity/ies exist to make sure the deity doesn't make the wrong choice. )

I think that khukuri would also have to be very very mean-looking in order to psychologically discourage assaults, muggings etc. Hmmm, maybe something like an AK47 (Ang Khola 47 inches).. Just putting in my 2 cents.

There is also something about the confidence in one's ability to use cold steel. This confidence was likely a major factor in the successful standoff.

Very interesting thing about the Lebanon incident. Paul was with some UN people, all heavily armed. The auto rifles did nothing but when Paul pulled his 15 inch AK everybody took off. Paul thinks it is the respect the middle easterners have for fearsome blades -- and they all recognized it as a khukuri, the blade of the Gorkha.

I would be very interested in the details of this incident. Is it reported in another thread somewhere?

Mike, as best as I can remember which is not very good as you all know I posted something over on Knifeforums some time back and I believe the thread was called, "Letter from Lebanon."

If we seach we might be able to find it.

I probably have the original letter somewhere mixed in with my file of 10,000 pix.

Thanks, Cliff.
I find it very interesting that he didn't even have to unsheath the khukuri.

Thanks, Cliff. I thought he pulled the AK -- shows you how good my memory banks are. But better if it works on your belt!
