WWI Khuks Maharaja of Jodphur

According to the Guru of Khuks John Powell here are two Khuks made for the trops of the Maharaja of Jodphur during WWI.

The blades are blued and the handles are made of the then wonder metal aluminium (Al-you-min-e-yum as the Brits would say). You may notice that one of the grips has the stamp "FG." That means Fort Guard, one of their armouries.

Sheaths again by Terry Sisko. Overall length in sheath is 19"
 
Once upon a time, aluminum was the wonder material. Still is in many ways (though not my favorite for nife handles. Wood is good!) At one time, I believe the French royal utensils included aluminum - it was more valuable than gold or platinum, because immense amounts of electricity were needed to make it in an age before the generator. Obviously these were made after that.
