It hasn't gotten here yet Rusty, but I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas. Today we had a sand storm so bad as to make it unsafe to operate a humvee, so I shouldered a pack and a rifle and hiked to where we pick up mail. Turned out to be nothing more than dusty exercise, no mail today, but I was more discouraged for the guys than for me. Heck, the waiting's half the fun, gives me something to look forward to:)

Sarge

p.s.: Used the BAS yesterday to chop/whittle a washboard of sorts, makes it easier to wash clothes in a bucket;)

Did anyone noticed that Sarge's newest khukuri is making an almost all round the world trip? Made in Nepal, it was sent to USA and now it goes back to Afghanistan which is practically Nepal's neighbour:)Sometimes it takes'em long to find the right hand;)

I'd actually thought of that Sharri. And I'm sure Sarge has too.

Hang in there Sarge. That Bura 16.5" WWII on it's way to you spent a lot of time sitting next to me at the computer desk or being fondled. It got to be my "security blanket" knife ( think of me as Linus on Peanuts - except with a khuk instead ). In fact if the M43 hadn't come along when it did you'd have had to pry it from my cold dead fingers.

The BAS has it's good points, kinda like the 9mm. And the Bura WW2 has it's good points, kinda like a hot loaded 45acp +P. The old argument bout a good smaller man vs. a good bigger man. Either does the job. The big one just does more, better, and with more finality.

Sarge got the same khuks as me in same order - hehe

He's doomed just like me

I have a 17" and 18" by Kumar. I think if I was in Sarge's position I would be a little on the jittery side too. The knife will be just about a quarter pound heavier than his BAS give or take an ounce or two. The length will give it the leverage to do quite a bit more heavy work.

I have thought a lot about what I would carry if I had to leave my house and never be able to come back here. I think that good common sense says, don't go over 1& 1/2 pounds. If you have to leave afoot the weight will add up real fast. Especially for us older guys. I try to keep in good shape but, the years are going to take their toll in any event. It would truely hurt me to have to leave any of these beautiful Khuks behind. Before I did that I think I would be giving them away to folks that I was pretty sure would put them to good use.

I'm still debating which to pick for the last ditch tool.:D

I don't have any of those. I hear a lot of people swear by them but, I don't feel that I could leave
a Bura 15" AK behind and go with any 14" knife. I have no idea what size knife you are talking about but, it would make no difference to me. I can be pretty sure that any regular HI Khuk will serve me
well.

Too right !! 17inch Villager by Kumar excellent !! I still love my Bura's though.

There are so many khuks I still want:

Here is my wish-list:

Tarwar - Bura
M43 - Kesar/Bura
18/20 Sirupati - Bura
15/18 AK - Sher
21 Gelbu Special - ?
22 Ganga Ram - ?
