Thanks for the tour of the 12th AD. Looks like they did some serious plunder of cool Nazi daggers. I served in the 1st AD in the '70s. But the battalions were all from the old 4th AD, nicknamed (by the Germans) "Roosevelt's Butchers".

Some very knice knife leaving history and politics aside. Most seem to be very functional, like that big Labor service Hewer knife. Its something I imagine Ernest Ermerson would design, I mean the shape reminds some of the Emerson's and BM rift... It bit looks like what would happend if BM rift and bowie would get offspring... :) I like the shape and design of it.

They did not have much in the way of US knives---but I took photos as best I could of what I thought you all would enjoy

Make sure you check out the Slideshow too

Thanks for sharing !

Is it just me or is there something creepy about those German Bayonets?

Allied soldiers were real heroes charging against those pieces of steel!

thans bill that's a lot of history & a lot of effort on your's & carol's part. i do'nt believe any military force had as many daggers & swords in their military. the battle of the bulge was a screwup by eisenhower, the english general montgomery warned ike that our troops were sread out in too thin line & the germans could break thru, ike ignored & although we inflicted 100,000 on the germans, we suffered 80,000 plus. this is a horrible loss to achive victory. to germany's credit we lost 5% of pows in their camps but lost 55% in japanese pow camps. however i.m.o. the biggest american error was our lack of preparation when any idiot could see where japan & germany were headed. i certainly appreciate all the info your slide show provided. thanks --dennis
