So I decided to give my WWII an old patina like one of the cap and ball revolvers I've modded. Didn't turn out to bad I think.

It's a little hard for me to tell what color it is but it looks good!

Tell a bit more about the revolver too! :)

Thanks for sharing. That is a very attractive WWII, I like its angles it looks less round than I thought they were.

Some more photos would be great to see the light at different angles. Also interested in the process you used to blue it. Don't recognize that Kami mark either... is that a cup?

That looks great! Well done. Thats a cool Revolver too. Id like to know more about that too!

It's mostly plum brown bluing splotched on and then super blue on top of that--work it all together, redo certain areas and if needed with 1000 grit, etc. I finish up with ren wax to give it a sheen. This started out as a villager and try as I might I couldn't get the tool marks out. I don't have a belt sander so tried by hand-- that steel is hard :) I ended up sanding it a lot and then trying out the bluing technique I tried with my revolver and it worked alright I think.

The revolver is a cap and ball Pietta 1851 Navy 36cal I bought for $80 and in the white. I've always wanted an "Avenging Angel" style revolver and the guy who does them wanted more than $250 to cut and contour it so I tried it myself and it didn't turn out bad for two hours work.
