WWII blued

So I decided to give my WWII an old patina like one of the cap and ball revolvers I've modded. Didn't turn out to bad I think.

It's a little hard for me to tell what color it is but it looks good!

Tell a bit more about the revolver too!

Thanks for sharing. That is a very attractive WWII, I like its angles it looks less round than I thought they were.

What bluing method did you use, and does bluing affect the edge?

It's mostly plum brown bluing splotched on and then super blue on top of that--work it all together, redo certain areas and if needed with 1000 grit, etc. I finish up with ren wax to give it a sheen. This started out as a villager and try as I might I couldn't get the tool marks out. I don't have a belt sander so tried by hand-- that steel is hard I ended up sanding it a lot and then trying out the bluing technique I tried with my revolver and it worked alright I think.

The revolver is a cap and ball Pietta 1851 Navy 36cal I bought for $80 and in the white. I've always wanted an "Avenging Angel" style revolver and the guy who does them wanted more than $250 to cut and contour it so I tried it myself and it didn't turn out bad for two hours work.
