So I have recently found what i believe to be the US M-1910 Entrenching Tool. It is heavily rusted and there is no designation that I could find, so I have no clue if it is original or a reproduction. How can I tell the difference between the two? And what is the value of this? I would like to know, as I feel it is a great little shovel, and I would like to use it if it isn't worth a fortune.

I'm no expert, but I really doubt its worth much more that $5. Especially in the condition you describe. Theres tons of WW2-present surplus equipment floating around.

Yes, in bad condition it isn't worth much. My girlfriend has been selling them for a while now. Not the best seller.

Well I started to try and clean up the shovel and I can tell that it is the real deal. The blade has US stamped on it and from how hard it is to sharpen and the amount of rust I can say that it is carbon steel. I will sharpen it up and post pics if I can.
