WWII K-bar

If I have mispelled K-Bar Sorry,I was at my best friends Garage sale recently and he had put out a few boxes of his dads tools and stuff . His Dad had died a couple of years ago and he had never gone though the stuff.He just put it out to get rid of it.I was [as a good friend ] rummaging through one and found a "K-Bar" I knew his dad had been in the Corps a Captain and was at Okinawa .The knife was brought to his attention and I suggested that his Dad may have carried it after all he still had his service "45". Now the problem, The Knife is still in fair condition The grip seems to be a series of a plastic type rings. and the Top of the handle is missing. Sooo where can we find a Top and can any body give me a little information on this Model . USMC in Capital letters The blade is almost like a gunblue ,in color. If any more info is needed I'll be glad to get it.

is the knife completely black or is the grip brown? If it is completely black, which i bet it is, then it was the knife issued to the troops at that time made made by ka-bar. Look at SMKW they have a modern reproduction you can replace the grip with , because i bet is is in bad shape. GREAT FIND!!

The rinds are all in quite good shape ,and from the look I would guess that they are all there,just just missing the top piece that holds them all togetherIs that called a Pommel[Spell}. Thanks for the information. .....
