Hey guys, I figured I would start a thread specifically for this blade, even though I showed some of the build in the M3 trench knife thread here.....

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1449664-M3-Trench-knife-(Work-in-progress)

I should mention that this is my first true dagger.
This knife is inspired by many of the daggers of that era. The blade is thick CPM 3v with a full length fuller. It features a zirc guard and butt plate, while the spike is 416ss which is more functional for striking.
The handle is Stacked natural micarta to simulate stacked leather. I think it looks pretty slick.

The sheath also has a bit of an old school feel. With the full handle length belt loop and the Randall style para cord retention. I modernized it by making it Molle Lok compatible and dressed it up with a some really nice shark skin in the tip.

Overall I am very pleased with it. I hope you enjoy the pics!

Very nice !!I would however replace the zinc with something like 416 !

Just perfect, in every respect, Ben. (IMHO) 😊
Great pictures also. A pleasure to look at. Mike

Mete - the guard and butt plate are zirconium.😎

Wow I love it!

The natural micarta is outstanding, a beautiful combat style dagger!

Please use English , either Zr , or Zirconium ! Zinc makes me nervous !!!

That is beautiful!

I really - REALLY like the micarta that simulates a stacked leather handle - that is something I have not seen done, and it works splendidly aesthetically, and knowing how micarta holds up I can see that being a lifetime handle treatment.

Great pictures too!

Incredible. I have to echo MQQN's comment. The stacked micarta is genius. Is this a model you are going to be offering up?

Subscribed with interest!

Not Zinc, Zirc.

I personally would prefer zinc on a trench knife...if you got a sore throat hunkered down in the cold trenches you could suck on the guard for relief ;)
Great lookin knife, Ben!!

NIce stuff Ben! I like how you kept the "feel" of the classic knife but improved it in suble ways...always great photography from you too....

Perfect for its intended use. Looks like it would save (or take) many lives.
Good choice for longevity on the handle material.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I might have to revisit this and the M3 at some point.
Working on a Bagwell style bowie right now. I'll post pics soon.
