Is it just me or do some of the newer WWII models seem to have blunter more rounded tips?

I don't think it's the tip being more blunt, I think they are being made with the belly closer to the tip. Ya know what I kind of mean? I love mine! She works great! I like my female khuks with a little to much belly!!;)

Just tzn Guy.:D

Actually some khukuris are made that way it seems. I prefer the more pointy ones myself, think they look prettier, but the rounded ones I think may be better choppers since the sweet spot is a bit longer.
And it's not just the pretty that makes me decide to get a khukuri. It's just HIKV.:D
Not really, sorta, it's a combination of things. And I don't think I could actually describe what "it" is that makes me desire one over another.
There's just something that calls to me.

I said the other day to someone that I didn't have any duplicates but then just now though of the 2 balance khukuris we have. Actually I have one and Barb has the other along with her 15"AK from Shop I.
But I don't have any duplicates of those I get to work with on the rare occasion anymore. And I have over 30 H.I.Khukuri's now, I'm gonna have to count 'em again one of these days. Maybe when we drag 'em all out for the Khonvention.:D

I have a Shop 1 WWII, and its tip is definitely more pointed than the tips on the presently made WWIIs. I feel the same way Yvsa does about the pointy ones being prettier.

On an aesthetic level I think I like the pointier ones better (they actually fit my vision of that particular khuk) but I can see how the ones with the belly extended more toward the tip would be better choppers. Hmmm, I may have to eventually get an example of both for "comparative analysis". :D

I agree with what everyone is saying, the pointed tips are nicer looking but the new ones are more practical (larger sweet spot, more cutting edge, etc.). Reducing the point also puts more metal at the tip which will strengthen it. I think it looks a bit ugly.

I think Atlantic Cutlery and Cold Steel haved the most inflence on what North Americans believe a khukuri should look like.

I think the more pointed version would make a better weapon and the longer bellied version makes a better tool.
