I hope the kamis figured out the tang will be longer than a normal panawal. Since it would include the grip + the butt protrusion. It should be an inch or more longer.

On the January issue of Tactical Knives, there is a review of 4 bush knives. The picture of two of them were among those I sent Craig for inspiration of the WW3.

I think Craig should have an extra one made, so he can send it to the magazines for review.

I did ask for the longer tang, but we'll have to wait and see what actually comes. There was actually a looming disaster with the design that was caught at the last minute - thankfully. The tangs were definitely not what we wanted. But I sent a series of detailed drawings which cleared things up. So let's pray that they come in all right. Of concern to me is the level of polish of the tang. If they are not flat, the handle guy will have one hell of a time polishing them to a flat surface so the scales can be applied easily.

Hmm, based on this and some posts in other threads, methinks Craig is learning more (possibly more than he wanted) about knifemaking. :-)

Mike: you are correct, sir!!!! I got a serious talking to when I told peter that we'd simply blue the blades before attaching the scales, and then be done with it. He looked at me, like a father to a child, and asked me, politely, what I thought would happen to the finish on the tang when he did the grind-work on the handles. Oh well, I said, back to the drawing board (incidentally, problem solved).

I have a little experience..as a former amateur knifemaker, I hit a lot of the little snags you are running into with this project.
I no longer make knives...lost my little belt grinder in a "domestic rearrangement."
