WWIII Handles now in production

Hello all,

This is just a quick note before I go wash the micarta dust off.

I am happy with the prototype handles, Christmas and Y2K are out of the way, and the fixtures I made are pretty well refined; so production began today. The initial batch will be six bead blasted ones, 3 with black handles, 3 with olive drab handles, each as requested by a particular customer and numbered according to the database provided by Craig.

For what it's worth, the prototype process proved to be a very useful exercise. I think it not only improved the usability of these knives, but also allowed me to streamline the production process somewhat. This should save time in the long run (I hope).

In the interest of keeping your enthusiasm up during what I'm sure will be a longer than desired completion time, I will provide periodic updates. If you wish, I can include some pictures of the process, as well as notes on how I've decided to go about the project. I'll let your requests be my guide in this regard.

Your's in Micarta dust,
Bob Couture

Cool. Thanks for the update Bob.

Bob, we appreciate your patience and commitment to excellence. And, as has been said numerous times, time is of no importance; we're just so happy that our khuks are in the hands of such a dedicated and skilled craftsman.

Sounds like things are humming along nicely Bob! I wouldn`t mind hearing a few notes on what final details you`ve arrived at. Take your time(but hurry up! LOL!).

Bob,

Thanks for the update. These knives are going to be worth every hour of the wait. Just keep on working your magic with them.

Updates would be most welcome and pictures of the work in progress would be great. I've got a Photo album going just for the WWIII and would like to be able to show the various stages that went into the prototype. It's a very special project for all of us who wait for delivery day.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Blackdog

Bob, take as much time as you need. That final handle prototype looked excellent. Any pics or notes on the project as it goes along would be read and looked at with much interest. Did I mention that final handle prototype looked excellent?

Can I buy one Craig? If so what is the price for one? Both the WWIII and Kydex sheath look

like the quality tools they are and we know underneath lies that hand forged, spring steel blade.

bug, It's too late. I already tried myself

. This first run is limited and numbered and they are already sold. Good news is Craig is thinking of making this a permanent item for Gurkha house maybe by summer(?). Cross your fingers with me.

Bug and Omrie: I've had a few "no shows" (not many, but a few). You can send me a deposit and the registration form, and they're yours. If they do contact me and let me know that they were stranded on a desert island, lost at sea, in the hospital, had a major computer crash, etc, then I'll have to return the deposit to you. Where the form says "number" don't put anything. Also, when you print out and send your reservation, please remind me that it is a "stand-by" reservation.

Otherwise, glad to be of service!

PS: Robert - did you get the second batch yet from Peter?

Bug,

Here's the Registration form for the WWIII.

By the way, If no one else has done so already, I'd like to officially welcome you to the GH Forum. If you are one of those weird people who: has an ongoing addiction to sharp objects, spends time secretly talking to his knives and has sold at least one household appliance to buy another blade, then you my good man are among friends. Welcome to group therapy.

Thank you for your welcome dog. Yours is the first. Fresh meat here, having just become a member about Christmas '99. The application you provided has been submitted. We share your addiction to sharp objects. Do you live north or south of Lake Surprise?

bug and Craig, thanks but my christmas money's already spent. I'll just wait for the next generation WWIII. Besides, I want to put it to use so I'll leave the numbered ones to the collectors. My brass handled blem is keeping me happy for now.

Glad you're back Craig. Bug, I'm working strictly with strawberries.

Bug, I'll add my welcome to Blackdog's. As the Dog said, "Welcome to group therapy." There's always room for one more in the asylum.

Gudday Stephen. Thanks for the welcome. I lived in Gretna in 1970 and 1971.

A belated welcome! I see that the BF guys have removed the "Junior Member" designation from the system. I like that change.
