WWIII Update

After a long while, I've made a very tough choice. I've had to ask the Handle Maker to return the remaining WWIIIs to me. You see, he got a "real" job about 8 months ago, and WWIII work has been slow-go to no-go ever since. I don't blame him at all - he has to feed his family. I blame myself for not realizing that it would be hard for him to finish the job of making the WWIII handles. So they're on the way back to me.

The good news is that I've found another person to finish the work that Robert started. When they get back to me, they are on the way to the "new guy" and hopefully he can get them finished in a month.

My sincere apologies for those who really wanted a handle with the Robert Couture touch. But in the interest of bringing this project to a close, I had to make this tough decision. I do promise that the "second" generation handles will be just as good as the first.

Who knows - maybe in the annals of knife collecting some day, the "first model" WWIIIs will be worth more than the 2nd model ones? Who knows!

Bob's package was delivered to me today, and goes out today to Peter J. Frye, who LT Dan knows. He's a great knife maker and works full time on his art. He's doing us a really big favor finishing these things. I owe him big!!!! So now we wait . . . again. It'll be after Christmas, and maybe even after George Bush takes office.

A good move to get Pete to do the WW3 handles! His work is hard to equal, much less beat. I usually don't care that much for tactical knives, but he makes one of his own design that I will surely have someday...the only problem is that I keep buying GH khukuris! Like you say, he does his thing fulltime and isn't on-line. He once told me that if he ever catches up with his orders that he might have to break down and get a PC, but he got burnt out on 'puters long ago. Being an openly honest person, he told me about you and GH, and spoke very highly of your ethics, Craig. (You really ought to go and visit him to pick up the WW3's with Marya, and do some small-mouth fishin'. He lives right near the Shenandoah River, and is in some of the most beautiful country in the state.)

All you WW3 owners-to-be are big-time fortunate that he's doing the work for you. I have no doubt you'll be pleased. If it was me, I would be GLAD to wait, just knowing that he's doing them. He is truly a master knife maker. (Yeah, Craig...you really do owe him in a HUGE way!)

Was wondering what is the progress on the remaining WWIII's. Been so long since I ordered, I can't recall what I ordered.

Edgeworks now has the remaining WWIIIs and is working slowly to help me finish the handles AND the scabbards. THANK you all for being so patient. At any time, if you wish to get a refund (plus interest!), just ask, and I'll take care of it immediately.
