I recall this as my very first "knife bookmark" and enjoying reading the wonderful material JM would post and the "good karma cut"

Now the website just rests out there in the arms of a squatter; I mailed him and he said he was open to any suggestions (I assume that meant offer to buy it...)

Whatever happened to the content? Any interest in buying it and making it a kind of memorial, perhaps to all those friends in the knife community who pass on to the great forge above (or perhaps to the "no additional fuel required" forge below?)

Just thought I'd check and see if anyone has an idea........

I miss James Mattis.

That was a great site.

Great guy, too. He always managed to have a couple absolute must haves just ready to go...and the site contained a ton of info.

If there is an effort to ressurect the site's content, count me in.

got it from one of the BF members that saved it the day JKM passed away.

if it will be ok with the family - I'd love to help restore it.

I'm in for any effort anyway.

For those who aren't familiar with the site, you can see it by visiting www.archive.org; then typing www.chaicutlery.com into the search field.

There's a couple of year's worth of James' pages there, and even some of his great scans are still around. If you get the little red x, go ahead and click on the blank thumbnail. I found a bunch of them still worked.

I have the site on CD as well. As with Blilious, a fellow forumite was kind enough to send me the CD. I still marvel at the clarity of some of James' scans. I've tried to duplicate his technique, but I can't seem to do it.

Here's one of my favorites. It's kind of large, so I'll just provide a link.
