Since our knives were discussed on this forum a month or so ago, I just wanted to let everyone know our web site is now up and running.

You can see alot more pictures of each knife if you go to the "Our Knives" page... click on the picture to see more pictures of that particular knife.

Thanks,
Eric Fehrman

Hey those look like ......... oh they are the Ferhman knives discussed last month :)
Nice knives, congratulation on getting your website up!

"Out of the Box
When you Fehrman Knife is brand new it will be very sharp. Don't be disappointed if it is not "razor sharp", large hard-use knives actually work best with a "field" or "working" edge. This means its sharp enough to cut and chop but should not have a "wire" or "razor" edge that dulls and rolls quickly."

Huh?

Could you give us more information on "F-3V" steel? Is it CPM-3V?

Cool, damage control as to why they are dull before you even start shipping these knifes that DON'T look like a Busse knockoff :)

I think is what He is trying to say is the edges are not polished out. Probably a little more "toothy" just like I like em :) As to the other comments , can we please not degenerate a simple little thread? Enough already.

I should probably reword that section of our site as it may be a little confusing. I have never had a single complaint about our knifes being "dull". I was just trying to be clear that although our knives are sharp the edges just aren't razor thin or polished out.

All our knives are sharpened by hand and stropped before leaving our shop.

Respectfully,
Eric Fehrman

From http://www.fehrmanknives.com/care.htm

The Steel F-3V has a decent amount of Chromium in its chemistry, however, it is NOT stainless steel. It is easy to maintain if you exercise a little care. We recommend you clean your knife at the end of every day of use and apply a thin coating of oil.
Please post some alloy composition and mfg info on F-3V steel.

Thanks.

My point is that being "razor sharp" has no effect on edge durability. Being very sharp does not mean you necessarily have a wire edge. Are you putting a toothy edge on them?

Also, would it be possible to get a spine shot of one of your larger knives in order to see the handle profile?

Heh. Eric, with all due respect, I think that paragraph aboutnot being sharp is probably fine for the masses, but as you can see, you won't get away with it here :) Not trying to be insulting, but I think it is worth a few seconds to explain it better, before people start making sarcastic comments (viz. several posts above) all over the net!

Not being super thin or polished out are the clarifying remarks that should also be on your site. Of course, being polished out does not make the edge more fragile ... arguably, it makes the edge more robust, in fact. But I agree that a less-polished edge could be reasonable for your knives.

1whobuys,

If you're gonna come over here to our forum, make sure you have something productive or constructive to add, or stay out. It's amazing to me how the anonymity of a screen name gives some people such AMAZING levels of courage and fortitude. Why don't you buy yourself some valium...

Jerry's knives are Jerry's, Eric's are Eric's. I have knives by both, and the lack of similarity is more apparent than the commonalities. I have knives by several other high-end makers that are for outdoors. They all look the same: long, sharp, beefy. But hey, knives are knives, so how different can they ever really get from each other anyway? Form follows function on knives. If you need a heavy duty blade that works hard, the ones that can do it will all look similar.

I repeat -- they all look the same: long, sharp, and beefy...

Say what you want, but these knives look an aweful much like the Busse knives. So much for originality of design.

Here we go again!!!! This situation is more annoying than the Emerson groupies . I wonder if they have thrown away all the loveless , Goddard , Fowler , Moran , Smith and so on looking knives they own cause they aren't really those makers but have some similar looks ? Damn , just damn again .

" It's amazing to me how the anonymity of a screen name gives some people such AMAZING levels of courage and fortitude. Why don't you buy yourself some valium... "

Brian Jones since you want to make it personal.....

Well then let me introduce myself.
My name is Charles Head, I live in Normal Illinois, I'm 45, 6' 03" at 290 lbs.
I'm ex-military, I love the U.S.A. but don't trust the government.
I believe it should remain " One Nation under God"
And CCW should be in all 50 states.
I don't do drugs, seldom drink and have never smoked. I leave that for the weak minded.
I think these knifes look like a Busse right down to the E-handle, logo, profile, talon hole and blade selection available from Fehrman.
They are the same sizes as the Battle Mistress, the SteelHeart and the Natural Outlaw.
The other thing that I notice, both are from Ohio. :)

"If you're gonna come over here to our forum, make sure you have something productive or constructive to add"

Let me give this concept a try...here goes.

What I do find hard to believe is that after reading though Mr. Ferhman's web site.
I see that he is a God fearing Christian that wants to serve God and fellow man.
And that makes me wonder how he ever managed to hook his horse up to the wagon of Doctor Ron Hood, Jeff Randall, and you?

A very strange coincidence seeing how Dr. Hood had once tried to get the Battle Mistress as his "Hoods Woods" Knife.
That was until it was found out that Mr. Hood is not a Doctor, never was, never will be.
It went deeper to find out that Doc Ron had lied about his military experience and training.
You remember, claiming to be Special Forces, Ninja Warrior, trained the natives how to live in the jungle, etc, etc...

See this link for some clarification: http://www.phonyveterans.com/Hood.html

Then all of the attacks on Busse by You and Randall over the summer.
Oh, It wasn't an organized attack? !
Who do you think you were fooling?
What's in it for you?
These seemed to come after Randall couldn't shut his mouth and was fired from Tactical Knife.
From watching his post since, he didn't seem to learn much did he?

Now back to this;
" It's amazing to me how the anonymity of a screen name gives some people such AMAZING levels of courage and fortitude. Why don't you buy yourself some valium... "

Since I am no longer anonymous to you, and since I don't do drugs.
Why don't you bring your valium and stop by some time, I'll be more than happy to use some fortitude and help you with a Valium enema.
Don't worry I'll do all the work,

It's a mind over matter thing....
I don't mind and YOU certainly don't matter.

Mr. Ferhman,
Can you tell us how thick the knife is just above the sharpened edge?
How about a close up of the handle?
What is the edge angle, and can it be sharpened with just a ceramic stone and a strop?
And most importantly, how did you ever get hooked up with these scumbags?
God Bless and Good Luck.....You'll need it with these 3 as your support group.

1whobuys,

Jerry Busse and I buried the hatchet PUBLICLY a long time ago. Why do you insist on bringing my name back into this fray? I know for sure that Jerry Busse does not support the bullshit you are trying to pull here. If anything you're making Busse Knives look bad by trying to defend them with such tactics.

I realize Jerry has no control over folks like you, so you can say what you wish...it's a free world, but I'm not a scumbag. Jerry Busse knows me pretty well and also knows that I'm honorable in what I say. Especially after our hours on the phone discussing these issues.

However, if you choose to make this a personal little war, then so be it. I'm game.

You came on this thread to stir up problems. The other guys such as Andrew Lynch (also a big Busse fan) asked a serious question. You are the only one on this thread that seems to be wanting a fight.

Well...as Doc Holiday said in Tombstone....."Im your huckleberry," and I damn sure ain't scared to tell you to go f*ck yourself to your face. So, ******* wanna fight? ;)

You two will keep this off my site, or you will both be removed.

First and only warning.

Kevin
